Eventually found them and hooked up an off roader that blew up and then a police car that killed me when it was stationary. Great Fun!

I just died and lost everything so taking a break..I think my loc (or the map) is broken, it was telling me I was in the far northwest of the map when I was south of Pleasant...
Also, BorstheDevil666 is KoS, even if you're pointing an (empty) hunting rifle at him
