Well looks like Monk wont win, but it gets my vote because they can get really amazing in later levels. Good luck with Bard Cohh GG!

Alright, so i've played this game for the past 12 years, so i'm going to put in a few tips/tricks and a few needed things that are general quality of life improvements.

Assuming the Cohh is using all of the expansions, he will need this:
http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn ... ld-english

It updates NwN to 1.69, which can't be updated through the launcher anymore since the bioware servers are no longer in use.

It is also a good idea to download CEP (Community Expansion Pack) 2.61: It adds a bunch of quality fixes.
http://www.neverwinternights.info/cep.htm

There is also these, I don't know if Cohh will want to install these, but I use them and can guarantee their features are worth it.

NWNCQ (Puts in new textures, generally makes the game look better):
http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn ... roject-v13

NWShader (Same as above):
http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn ... h/nwshader

Unofficial 1.71 patch (Fixes bugs and others):
http://www.neverwinternights.info/p170.htm

NWNCX (Client Extender, quality of life improvement):
http://www.neverwinternights.info/nwncx.htm

Besides this, depending on what class Cohh goes with I can give a build that will go well with it, following the character from 1-20 or ever past that.

I generally like ranger for the pets and spells or fighter with up to 3 rogue for the special equipment and skills

Is this going to be the regular game, Shadows of Undrentide or Hordes of the Underdark?

Monk btw.

I had a lot of fun playing this as a multiclass ranger/rogue. Looking back on it now, that combination was a bit cheesy, especially as I partnered with the halfing rogue and had a panther for a pet (every fight became a wall of sneak attacks). Still couldn't resist voting for ranger though, for old times sake. :)

I am a little sad that Bard is winning. Bard is a fun class, but not for a first playthrough of the game. It is hard to get a good build going on a Bard without having knowledge of the game mechanics beforehand, otherwise you end up with a character that is mediocre at best and doesn't feel very fun to play. If you know what you are doing the Bard is a great class, but if you don't you end up being 'meh'. I am just hoping that if Bard does Win that Cohh will still enjoy the game, I hope it doesn't end up like pulling teeth for him. I voted Monk because it is flexible as well but you don't get screwed if you make a bad call or two.

As an addendum, I don't hate the bard I actually love the class, but I wouldn't recommend them for someone new to the game, especially if they are not used to or do not know how bards work in DnD or Forgotten Realms and end up building them as 'buff machines' rather than a stand alone class.

I agree, Bard is pretty rough starting out but Cohh is pro he should do pretty well. He has to play through 3 days so hopefully he gets far enough, fast enough to unleash bards true power haha!

That is what worries me, is that it takes a while to unlock the true power of the Bard, and Cohh is the type of person to 100% everything he can in games. So I fear he will only get the rough start, without the true power and end up hating the game and never return to it once the 3 days are over.

I dont know, Bard can pretty much do a little bit of everything so Cohh may like that about it. I will be interested to see how it turns out, since we can pretty much count on it being bard as of this point.
