Twitch is implementing new subscription tiers: $4.99, $9.99, and $24.99. Cohh has announced that the tier perks in our channel will change. Note: All emotes will be available to all tiers.

Starting June 1st:

A $4.99 sub will be a basic Twitch sub. IF you dualsub before June 1st (and keep it active), you will always have auto-entry in Community giveaways and Hugeaways (as long as your websub is active, which you can keep active or reactivate at any time). We will be removing the ability to purchase new websubs on the site.

A $9.99 sub will be auto-entered in both Community giveaways and hugeaways.

A $24.99 sub will be auto-entered in both Community giveaways and hugeaways, along with new perks in the coming months.

More information will be available in the coming days.

Thanks for the info. It will be interesting to see what will be the major difference between the tiers given there's a significant jump from $9.99 to $24.99.

@nuuriell Cohh just mentioned that the Websubs will permanently stay active if you are a dual sub before June 1st.
The "(aslong as your websub is active)" sounds different. Or do you mean as long as the TwitchSub is active?

How will this effect the Twitch Prime users since you have to wait for Twitch to tell you you can use it again. Is there a little resubscribe window allowed? Got a feeling the whole June 1st thing won't apply to me thanks to how Twitch Prime works :(

Find it interesting that it only says Twitch Sub on the right when I been both for a few months now. The top bar shows I am auto on Hugeaways also.

I am currently a dual sub since I bought 6 months via the token store. I am not seeing an option to enroll in standard paid websub (since my sub is currently active) - will I be SOL since my websub expires in October, and the ability to purchase websubs will not be available at that time?

Did the same. Dunno if wasted or not.

Also I feel that this tier approach is kind of a mistake. At least don't use $25 tier for hugeaway auto-entry. It's way too much for most.

i would at least suggest that the people who have websubs and they get auto cancelled still retain then ability to rebuy them. If one of us long timers gets his card blocked or revoked then we end up being SOL as the rest.

But thats just my .02$

the auto-entries are pure quality of life perks, and I think its perfectly sensible and appropriate to have them as high tier perks. ALL the content is still available to ALL community members.

websubs were a means for people to "go the extra mile" in supporting, and the mid-tier subscription is basically same goal, same price as a dual sub now - it makes websubs obsolete.

some of us - (the whales :P ) used multiple subscriptions to increase their financial support of the channel even further. the top tier sub is a serious commitment and rewarding it with the comfort of auto-entering thehugeaway feels perfectly fine to me.

The monthly hugeaway is not something that should be taken for granted, and having a system for automated entry even less so. IMHO its absolutely appropriate to have such luxury perks as auto-entry" as rewards for those who "go the extra mile".

Its not about being taken for granted, Silver. The hugeaway was initially something to thank the long timers and the supporters. These days its nothing of the sorts. Anyone can enter and anyone can win. But for isntance i can afford a 7.50 to go toward cohh, i am not a whale enough to aford a 25. I find the almost 4 fold price increase for the same perks a bit ... annoying. if anything else.

So i'm gonna express a few concerns we had when talking in chat with others regarding this changes.

- What happens to people that can't/don't use paypal when their credit card expires ? Does that mean they won't be able to renew their websubs and they need to switch to the 25$ if they want to still have the same benefits ?
- Why not putting all the perk from the 7,5$ total dual sub onto the new 9,99$ tier twitch sub, that would make the 2,5$ saved for people that keep the websub autorenewed an extra perk for old timers that used the old system ?
- Even if the hugeway is only once a month on a fixed date it doesn't seem fair for the auto-entry to switch from a total of 7,5$ to 24,99$. That's just way too much of a difference.

Then this my own reflexion, i get that Cohh wants to find a mean to give back to the community and reward people subbing and those subbing to higher tiers, that is why a 9,99$ tier including all the current dual sub perks would make total sense to me.
But, as i see it, that 24,99$ sub tier is just a way to dual sub + some extra tip, and tippers never had any perks before(and they still won't if they tip through the tip button), so as much as i undersdant the will to change that and actually reward people giving more it doesn't seem fair to remove something from people that always were dual subs (or 9,99$ subs) to give it to that top tier sub only and in the same time not giving the same thing to people tipping but not taking the higher tier sub, i hope i didn't lost you here :D

We have a pretty huge community, with a kind of large old timer base too, it doesn't seem unlikely that if you ask for other ideas as to what new perk(s) a 24,99$ sub could get, there would be one or two good ones you could use.

Just to be safe i'll mention that i'm not saying that'll unsub/leave/burn my computer or whatever because i don't like those changes as they are, i'll still support you and this community as much as i can as long as i can ^^

(Also i have to mention that i have auto renew through paypal for websub, so this changes will most likely not affect me if i understood correctly(and will most likely change to higher tier anyway), but i still wanted to express that for potential new subs that know the current system or old timer having websub with credit card or a temporary money issue that have to cancel sub for a time and couldn't go back to the old dual sub)

Anyway, getting hyped for that Outlast 2 playthrough today :D

I see your point. I just think that auto-entry of giveaways is pure luxury.
Dual-sub was til now the top-tier subscription option of the three available (websub, twitch sub, dual-sub), and thus had all the perks. The new Twitch tiers are more expensive, and i think spreading the luxury of auto-entry over the new higher tiers is a good middle ground to reward the commitment and still make everything available to everyone.

I fully understand that a 25 bucks subscription due each month is a serious commitment. I wont be able/willing to go all-in and to permanently sub for 25 either. In comparison, thats what i pay for my mobile phone contract with whole-europe flatrate and LTE highspeed connection, or for one of my quad-core dedicated servers with 8GB RAM and 2TB storage. Its definitely the option for people who want (and can) go way beyond the usual support. Rewarding it properly - without making the community feel like they need to go top-tier to have the full experience, but also without making top-tier subs feel underappreciated - is not an easy task.

I definitely agree with you that there may be unexplored options, but from the current set of options and perks, the approach outlined in the OP feels appropriate and balanced to me.

One final note on my point of view: I dont sub for the benefits. I sub to express support, and any benefits are a bonus. This is why I am less concerned about restructuring it. I dont see it as:

"I have commited to this payment plan because it has this feature set, and I dont want you to take away the features i pay for"

Others may have a different view and motivation behind their subscription, and thus see this in a different context.

I had an issue with this just a couple months ago where my websub through paypal didn't show it went through. I ended up going back through this website and had to resub. I only noticed this because it said my hugeaway was not *Automatic* So i thought I was doing the proper thing and resubbed then ended up being charged double. THis is a huge concern because it is a website thing that could relapse. I was charged twice for 2 months. Did not get my money back from paypal. I sent a complaint 6 times to paypal and spoke with admin here. Again it is a concern.

PS Dont get me wrong, I love websub and this community but an issue like this can happen. I even love the fact that we are a community that supports a great community family atmosphere.

I agree, and find it funny that the "perks" are pathetic compared to the price increase. I watch all of Cohh's videos on YouTube, and never know about giveaways due to working nights. I could not care less about the giveaways, but to change the system is pathetic on the Twitch side of things. I support the streamer, and do not get to interact with chat. So don't tell me I do not have the right to complain. Twitch is greedy to say the least, this has been seen in many aspects of their business.

The main Problem I have with this is that the nice community feeling we have here could be destroyed by this. Now you will have the super duper subs. The middle class subs and the poor slobs who can only afford the lowest tier. That can easily destroy communities. The danger is that high tier subs will demand more respect from the lower tier subs.
That is why many other large casters have announced not to follow the new tier system.
I really hope that Twitch does not introduce batches for this to heighten the pressure on low tier subs.

I understand your concern and this may be true for other communities, but this is one of very few where I am absolutely confident that it will not happen.

We had fragmentation before, as i outlined in my earlier post: websubs, twitch subs, dual subs, high token holders who get early access to community servers etc. It never was an issue, because here, we cherish every community member, whether you sub, tip, cheer, or farm tokens 24/7.
It doesnt matter if you have a 100k cheer badge or if you're just a lurker. And it wont matter if you sub for 25bucks or you're just a lurker.

The new sub options could push people to support only their favorites and drop support for others. I could spend 25 for potential super benefits on a streamer instead of supporting 5 streamers at the same price. Seems weird they will come out with a program to help new streamers but at the same time announce a new sub method that can hurt new streamers.

I am just going to watch and see how it turns out.

So the benefits of the websub/dual sub system which had a total cost of $7.50/month will now cost $25.00/month? This kind of thing is just one of the many reasons i'm against the twitch sub tier system. There was no change in supply that warranted the increase in price.
