I got hooked after I saw the live Q&A Ashardis. Me and a friend just got a freelancer package each, though we will be making our own trading/transport corp. Maybe we can co-operate with the cohhilition after release? :) Anyways, here is our organization https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/PPI

We still need a story and stuff like that though, the site is not quite finished. Maybe someone here care to join/contribute? :)

Yeah I have been all over this. Between this and The repopulation. I think it will be a EVE without all the headaches and a lot cooler as far as AI.

Ehm.. Technically, the alpha has been running ever since they released the hangar module... they're releasing modules of the persistent universe part of the game as they get them ready so the players can give feedback and they can improve and iterate for more awesomeness..

So.. the alpha has been active for quite a few months already.. but soon we'll get the Dogfighting Module in it's first version.. pewpew..

All you need to do is buy the $40 Aurora Gamepackage and you'll have alpha access.. or ofc.. spend more if you want/need to :)

Sadly I missed the kick starter, never heard of the game until AFTER it ended, but quickly got my 35 dollar down as soon as I saw it available. I hope he will be ready for this epic flood of people rushing to this game.

Their site has been open for direct pledges & ship sales for 8months now! They migrated from Kickstarter after $6.4million or so.. and now the total is above $37.3 million.. Obviously, if you bought a game+ship-package before Novemer 18th or thereabouts, you'd get lifetime insurance on that/those ship(s)!

If you want to know more, I suggest you check out the Q&A highlight here : http://www.twitch.tv/cohhcarnage/c/3609116 75mins of all things StarCitizen - covers most of the basic knowledge.

They just released a "quick overview" video - check it out if you don't want to listen to me for 75 minutes : http://www.twitch.tv/cohhcarnage/c/3609116
The video is an easy way to get the idea of StarCitizen.

There's a few things I'd like to point out, though :
1. Most of the in-game stuff is shot with an OLD version of the engine/models - they've recently adopted a new physics based rendering tech that makes surface textures a lot nicer to look at.

2. There's both Wingmans Hangar & The Next Great Starship coming every week on youtube now - check it out, they're both pretty darn cool.

3. No Dogfighting Module in December :( It should be released soon though.
TL;DR - The game will look even better than the trailers! More Youtube shows! Starship dogfigthing SOON!

So the latest Wingmans Hangar had some sweet info - The Release date of the much anticipated DFM (Dog Fighting Module) which will be around April 13th as CIG will reveal it at PAX East (actually at an event just before PAX East, outside of the main area) - After this, assuming nothing breaks, the rest of us will be able to update the launcher and get into the dogfighting!!

Also - A first view of the updated Vanduul Scythe :

This also showcases what PBR can do for visual fidelity!

We can't select a planet as such.. or atleast it's not totally decided how this will work. People will have a hangar at a planet, but whether this can be selected by yourself or just handed out to you by the servers at strt remains to be seen.
Remember the game is ATLEAST 15-18 months from release and we'll have plenty of time to select all of these things later on!

Also remember that a lot of people will probably want to play through the single player campaign first (Squadron 42) for in-game reputation gain/money/citizenship and this might delay things at a little at start.

Again, this isn't totally planned out by CIG, so we can't really decide on a hard plan now :)

Thanks for the interest, though.

Well the intrest is high when you long for a game to come out =)
I saw roberts talking about organisations and he talked a bit about how they will work and such.
I know we are far from the game still but it can be fun to talk and plan now aswell ;)

I totally understand and I am also VERY hyped for SC! But right now, we can't really make a ton of concrete plans coz CIG hasn't provided a lot of specifics that can't/won't be changed in the next 18 months :)

So while I would love to discuss the finer points of hangar decor, planet to pick, ships preferred to group with, tactics, obvious targets in the persistent universe, roster per timezones n whatnot.. it's not all there yet :)

Over on Massively their SC column did a great job against all they SC naysayers : http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/02/23 ... #continued

In case ppl don't know - there's a lot of people, within and outside the gaming industry, that are saying "No no, SC will never work, never have the content/structure/support/backend/gameplay as promised" and so on. The above article is a great response :)

I tend never to read anything on Massively, since their editor in chief went out of his way to put ESO down anyway he could

http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/t ... ively.html

this article just one of the things they have done to bring alot of negativity down on them selves.
