Agree with Kulthor about noctua fans being good but i would just get a noctua cpu cooler tho not the NH-D14 SE2011 because its a overkill if you dont OC ....maybe NH-U14S it will do a good job cooling.

Going to be tuning the build throughout the day tomorrow. Looking at getting a different case, maybe adding another SSD and possibly switching the heatsink.
Would a Stock heatsink be unfeasible in this build, you think? I don't plan on doing any overclocking.
Case
- Personal choice matters here - just be sure that CPU heat can fit in (check case specs for CPU cooler clearance vs. CPU cooler height)
SSD
- Well.. I'd pick the 512GB/1TB SSD so you can install games/OS there with impunity - and then consider getting a 2-4TB storage hdd for Laina's old PC and use THAT for video playback/whatever needs storing. Multiple SSD's could be a thing, but /shrug - Will you remember to install the games on that other SSD or will it sit unused while your main SSD is filled to the brim?
Heatsink
- Stock Heatsinks are NOT an option in general. They're somewhat in-efficient and noisy - and somewhat deliberately designed so, any custom cooler air or water will be a lot better. Also - The CPU doesn't HAVE a stock fan, as Intel doesn't ship these hexacore babies out with stock fans, coz every user will want something better anyways.
- I found this test : http://www.maximumpc.com/article/featur ... p?page=0,1
- It finds that the H100 is the best cooler and lowest noise, but installation isn't for every case AND you need to open the case to adjust things.
- The Noctua NH-14 is great, BUT the RAM needs to be lowprofile or you can get in trouble.. so might be an issue.
- The NZXT Havik 120 seems like a nice alternative, especially with the resistors in-line, so the fans aren't running at top speeds..
- My PERSONAL favourite is still the cheapest Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo - It's easy to install, it not noisy, it's somewhat effective and no RAM clearance issues.

Ashardis i think your choise is good because Cohh wont overclock and it offfers good performance for the money. By the way Ashardis i was thinking about the NH-U14S what has 100% ram compatibility on LGA2011.
What you think Ashardis if Cohh would use part of the SSD for a cache for HDD ?

That NH-U14S seems like a VERY solid choice as well.. unless the price is an object.. but comparing with the H100i, I guess not

I would recommend my case for Cohh because he isnt going to be using it primarily for video storage so it would be super quiet and it has great air flow options
i bought mine through this website
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/antec-11 ... se-w-o-psu but that becuse I live in the north of Ireland so it had to be in sterling, let me know if you guys think it would be a viable option for the case thanks

Thats good that your using SSD for your OS/Game Installs, its the best upgrade I've put in a gaming rig in a long time, I assume you will be going for RAID 0 for fastest speed with no redundancy backup?
Samsung didn't have their SSD line out when I got mine but I hear good things they should perform well!

I think Cohh will use them as 2 seperate drives for ease of installation and no fuss

Check it out, there's lots of Laina and thanks to DjZakar for the practical help!!
also - Bonus Ashe apperance!! (The Bearded Dragon!!)
Also - Cohh used the SSD's in RAID 0!
