Cohh's run on Metal Gear Solid series

Seen as Cohh is planning to play the series in the recent future, and I didn't see a thread about, it here it is.
Basically I want to discuss Cohhilition thoughts on what Cohh should know before starting each game. Here's a few things I thought of:
- Should Cohh get a synopsis of what happened in Metal Gear and MG2: Solid Snake, or should he figure it out while playing MGS? I do think he should know where he knows people like Campbell, Miller, and Grey Fox.
- How is Cohh playing the game, considering there are some gameplay differences between what version MGS Cohh plays? (Psycho Mantis, codec frequencies, etc)
- MGS alternate ending, should Cohh strive for the canonical ending, or just play and roll the dice?
- If he plays Peace Walker, should he get a synopsis for Portal Ops? If not, should he get a synopsis of the events in those two games?
- Whatever else I've missed that should be talked about for Cohh to enjoy the games and the story to it's full extenct.
Metal Gear (released 1987)
In 1995 Big Boss, the leader of special forces group FOXHOUND sends operative Gray Fox to investigate Outer Heaven, a fortified state in South Africa. Gray Fox goes missing. Big Boss sends rookie operative Solid Snake to investigate the possible nuclear threat of Outer Heaven and to locate and save Gray Fox. During the mission Solid Snake is in radio contact with his commanding officer Big Boss, discovers that the nuclear threat is a bipedal walking tank (a mech) called Metal Gear, and saves Gray Fox. Eventually Snake destroys Metal Gear and comes across the leader of Outer Heaven, revealed to be Big Boss himself. Snake defeats Big Boss who uses a self-destruct on Outer Heaven and vows that they will meet again.
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990)
4 years later, in 1999 an oil crisis affects the global economy. A scientist who discovers an alternative to oil is kidnapped by soldiers from central asian Zanzibarland. They wish to ransom the world for nuclear disarmament. Solid Snake is sent to rescue the scientist and his invention. This time his radio contacts include Roy Campbell, the new leader of FOXHOUND and Master Miller, among others. Again a Metal Gear is found, this time controlled by Gray Fox. Solid destoys the Metal Gear, and the leader of Zanzibarland is revealed to be Big Boss. Snake defeats Big Boss by burning him alive. The scientist is found dead, but his invention is salvaged by Snake.
