Worth Upgrading?

Hello,

My current PC has the following:
Intel Core i7-920 2.66Ghz Quad-Core Processor
Asus P6T ATX LGA1366 Motherboard
(3 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 4890
Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Cooler Master HAF 932 ATX Full Tower Case
Corsair Enthusiast 750W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 OEM (64-bit)
I had a friend who I no longer talk to spec this out for me about 7 years ago. Is it worth upgrading this? I was thinking about upgrading to 12G-24G RAM, adding a cooler master hyper 212 cpu cooler, and later upgrading the gpu to a EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti. I'd really appreciate if some tech savy people could offer some advice if this is the right way to go, suggest alternate parts, or let me know if I should just save my money for a new rig.

I would say its worth upgrading, The old gen i7/i5's are still really good. My advice would be upgrade your ram 8GB minimum 16gb max I feel anything above that is overkill unless your are streaming/video editing, new graphics card if you feel like it but I would recommend a SSD before a graphics card (Samsung do some amazing SSD's). Are you still using the stock CPU cooler if so I would upgrade that too. Also look into windows 10, I believe its still free at the moment. There is some nice features that come with windows 10 that allow for hardware to be used more efficiently.

This would be my list of what to get.
SSD,RAM,GPU,CPU (cooler)

Questions: what do you use the computer for? Does it still work for that? Are you looking to upgrade/buy new for a reason? If you are looking to upgrade/buy new because of something (a game) look to the specs of the game. If your computer can be upgraded to the specs for the game then I would follow exactly what thisisketts said, it is very well written! If you need help check out https://pcpartpicker.com/ or go to ibuypower and you can get money off with Cohhs code. Hope that helps. Good luck!

If this is for gaming i would go the route of Gpu,6 gigs more ram and then a cpu cooler for that overclock after that a ssd for faster load times and convinience and lastly a new psu

Thanks for all the advice!! The PC was used mostly for gaming, but it has a hard time running GTA V. I don't exactly have a lot of time to play anymore (my wife gave birth to a baby girl), but I hope to be able to play Witcher 3 once I my pc up to par.
