Well this will be fun. Already in advance an apology, iam not very good at this english language you all speak of, but this is my last idea before i get mad.

This is the situation: I have a PC. 1x SSD 1x "normal" HDD and a combo-dvd-bd-drive.

1/10 boots: 5-6 seconds. all fine
9/10 boots: really slow. 1-2minutes. also in that case the computer doesnt recognise my dvd-drive.

I checked different cables, the windows registry thingy that google tells you is a thing, i tried other drives and my pc accepts them fine. My system runs with AHCI for my SSD and the drive has the usual SATA connector.
Long story short: is my drive broken or am i not getting anything?

Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231v3@3,4
RAM: 16GB Crucial BLS4G3D1609DS1S00 DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX970
Power: BeQuiet 500W Silent
BluRay-Laufwerk: Pioneer BDR-209 DBK

Maybe someone had already run into something like that.

VERY common driver issue, what can you do about it ? lol about nothing. blame Microsoft. I see it way to many times, had it for 4 computers which I own and had to wait for updates. I have mainly seen it with older Samsung drives though.

The only thing that may help is looking for new firmware, otherwise you seem to be out off luck. BTW which bd drive do you have ? I may have custom firmware if you can't find it online.

Note For this method, you must be logged in as an administrator in Windows. If you want to check whether you are an administrator, go to http://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin

Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. If you modify the registry incorrectly, there may be major problems. Before making any changes, make a backup of the registry, you can restore in case problems arise.

Proceed as follows to create the subkey:

Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run box.
Type regedit in the Run box and press Enter. When prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or click Allow.
In the navigation pane, the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ atapi
Right-click on atapi, point to New, and then click Key.
Type Controller0 and press Enter.
Right-click on Controller0, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Type EnumDevice1 and press Enter.
Right-click EnumDevice1 and then click Change ....
Type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.

Hey there

well i tried every single registry thing there is in the world including this one.
I had a similar problems with an older computer but the solution was just with the upper/lower filters in the registry.

The thing is a Pioneer BDR-209 DBK ( as far as i know) some standard combination drive for dvd and bd which is like 5 years old. i usually cant check the firmware because the pc doesnt accept the drive, but iam 90% sure its the latest one at least according to the pioneer site.

But i will try out the two suggestions again just to be sure
