Warner Bros. has confirmed to IGN that the PC version of Batman: Arkham Origins will use Valve's Steamworks for its multiplayer connectivity and achievements, dropping Microsoft's neglected Games for Windows Live service.

Despite having no multiplayer modes, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City both use GFWL for achievement tracking, where it earned a reputation of causing installation problems and making the transfer and backing up of saved game files extremely difficult.

Other series that have dropped GFWL in favor of Steam include BioShock, Fallout, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Dirt, Grid, Codemasters' F1 Racing, Red Faction, and Kane & Lynch.
