Rant? || Sponsors ..(Curse...)

Hi all.

Some may know my story how 14 months ago a simple surgery landed me into ICU for 2 weeks and paralyzed, lost my family and seeing my son every day to just a few days a month. I've been a lurker for just shy of 2 years and enjoy Cohh 99% of the time. Even when he's not playing a game I enjoy, I still will lurk. I had subbed for awhile when I had money, but had to let it lapse but still a web sub(trying to do my best to help support). I truly appreciate how Cohh goes out of his way to inform people you don't have to be a sub to be part of the family, couldn't ask for a better streamer.

Now to my Rant. I have had many jobs, and understand sponsors and advertising as they help support the stream, streamer and channel. I know and respect 100%, my problem is the curse only giveaways. I don't enter a lot of the giveaways, but at the beginning of Curse all giveaways were still on the channel and if I decided I would like to enter a particular giveaway I could. Certain games I already have and respectively stay out of the giveaway. More and more I'm seeing curse only items being given out. I don't want to install curse, or even the desktop(web based) version so i'll go back to 99.999% lurker status of where I just sit and watch and giveaways will become non-existent for me as they have to a large degree now. I almost feel that I have to become a sub to 'get' around the curse if I want a chance at every giveaway since I would be a 'dual-sub' due to my web subscription. I get 373.99 a month to live on for the next few years till I am either denied SSD, or approved. I don't have the money to sub, all my web subs come back to when I did have some money to support the channel. I used to watch Towelliee, but no more due to his 'curse' requirements to get things(giveaways). If Curse is sponsoring the giveaway, I agree 100% that it should be a curse only. I know that lots of streamers use it, I respect it and understand the support of using the application.

I'm sorry for the long post, I don't do this very often and I have problems in regards to 'requirements for giveaways'. I'm looking for clarification on why the move to more exclusivity on curse giveaways. As of this point going forward I've completely written off trying to win any game as its more and more curse only. If this has answered before, I apologize and I will delete my post. I didn't see a post about it before hand. I'm very shy now and most of my conversations happen when I am not getting instant responses(aka live chat, why i'm a lurker). Seeing the white light at the end of the tunnel has a way of doing that to a person, I am extremely happy that i'm still alive, but every day is a struggle..

Look forward to many more lurking days and Good Shows!

As for the why, the explanation is pretty simple. Among other reasons like promoting Curse, which we use as our main chat-app-thingy, the biggest part is about the size of the stream channel. We've become a lot bigger over the years and with more things going on in chat it becomes harder and harder to facilitate constant giveaways without spamming chat to the point that discussion or questions during normal stream times will become unmanageable.

The only way to ease up on giveaway spam in chat is obviously to move the giveaways elsewhere. Now webpages etc, have a hard time to facilitate this kind of giveaway without a lot of extra work and ressources. Curse is a good option that we already want to promote and that we already use and it gives us a simple and unique option that is reducing the problem of chat giveaway spam.

Where something is given away does not matter. You either need to load a webpage and register there, get some facebook or twitter account, etc.

That Curse is not an option everyone is happy with is obvious, but then no option will make everyone happy. Curse is a free option, so it doesn't cost a cent, that was always an important factor for us, because we do not want to limit giveaways to some sort of pay only variant. Other than that we could argue back and forth what the 'best' option really is, but in the end, it was decided that for the Cohhilition, we will be using Curse.

Not using Curse is of course your choice and we won't in any way look down on you for deciding not to use it, but in the same way it would be unfair to ignore all the viewers who would prefer to live without the constant giveaway 'spam' and have been requesting for some giveaways to be moved for a long time now.

So while none of the options will make everyone happy, I hope you understand that the option we have now, is in our opinion our best compromise that we can currently achieve for all the viewers as a whole and one that is manageable in a way for us that keeps giveaways around in a way that will not distract too much from actual stream chat.

Thanks for the response and time put forth in it. I appreciate it, I was just wondering. I know the channel has grown as I can recall when the max was back in the 2,000 and absolutely love and respect how the channel has grown so much in the last year to say the least. I could wish no one better on their journey than someone who deserves it. All you have done a great job of keeping chat clean, constructive and as someone who doesn't talk its great all around. I'm so happy that its grown to what it has as a lurker still see's the benefits in it and have always enjoyed Cohh even if i totally don't like the game =)

PS - You can close this thread or delete it. I was just looking for why and I got it. Makes sense till I found BTTV =)
