1. Chrono Trigger (DS version)
Im a sucker for time travel and rpgs...im sure everyone has heard of this game at some point, it holds a special place in my heart cause you can rename all the characters.
2. Breath of fire 3
I find myself coming back to this game often, its colorful, goofy, with very unique character design, i cant recommend it enough.
3. Halo 3
Again a franchise most have heard of. For most it was halo 2. While i enjoy all halo games in some fashion, 3 stood out for me because of the fantastic replayability value that the forge system brought. The game seemed the most balanced, it had the competitive intensity of 2, but without hackers and modders. While dated now, always a fun game to play 4 player coop with some good friends.
4. Final fantasy X
This one Ive always heald close to heart, and i cant explain why its my favorite, not well at leasg, because so many rpgs probably did it better. I loved ffx because of the bad voice acting, the unique sphere grid, and engaging story. I recommend it if you like turn based games.
5. Starcraft 2
Blizzard is a huge name and starcraft is a major flagship for them. While the story line of all starcraft games are incredible, what puts this in my top 5, is the versatility of the map editor, giving us the players essentially endless replayability.
Whats your top 5?

I Actually have no favorite game at the moment. I am actually looking for a game to get into. I was playing Path Of Exile, But I don't know the game is fun. But it seems like it'll get old so I stopped playing for a bit. Hopefully I see some peoples favorite games and am able to find a new game that way.

Of all time? Hmmm
Diablo 2
Baldur's Gate 2
Planescape Torment
Fallout 2
Knights of the Old Republic
Pretty much, I am a sucker for anything with a good story or a lot of replay value... preferably both.

I'm the same way randomgeek. I tend to stay away from games that have excess grinding though. I havent found an mmo that i like yet.

It's always tough to figure out my favorite. they can change on a day to day basis depending on how I feel.
River Raid, War Games, Rush'n attack, Valkyria Chronicles, Dragon Warrior
I guess that's five. I could probably switch rush'n attack to Jackal and DW to trails of cold steel. Maybe Defender to River raid.

This is a tough question. I couldnt rate each of the games above one another, so I'll just state my 5 favorites in no particular order.
Sly Cooper 2: Band of Thieves
A stealth platformer that, in my opinion, still holds up today. Also the first stealth focused game that I played. It has everything: Boss fights, minigames, upgrade system, a decent story, and an interesting mixture of levels and open world. Its awesome.
Sid Meier's Pirates
One of the best, if not THE best, pirate games ever made. Not much explanation needed, you are a scallywag that travels the Caribbean, raiding ships, finding lost relatives, following treasure maps, romancing governer's daughters, and possibly privateering. I wish there was more competition, since there are so few pirate games.
Stardew Valley
A nice, calm, farming game. Cohh played this a bunch, so no need for an in depth description, other than it is awesome and the perfect way to unwind.
Path of Exile
Cohh's playing this a bunch right now. There are so many choices in builds (even if not all of them are the greatest), that it has large amounts of replayability. I still have problems where I get to maps, then want to make a new character to try out that other style of builds I heard about.
Hotline Miami 2
A really difficult overhead "puzzle shooter". It needs both planning, and good reaction times. The game itself is not long, but most of the length comes from the many, many, many attempts at each level. It should be noted that it is much less SFW than the others.
Thats the few that I could even it down to. If I played The Witcher 3, then it would probably make the list.

Oh dear, I could never narrow it down to just 5 games. Add a zero on the end, and maybe I could list some of my favourite games over the past three decades. Even game franchises would be hard to narrow down, and would have to include Deus Ex, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, No One Lives Forever (obviously), the Jedi Knight series, Uncharted, Thief, Tomb Raider, Dishonoured, Neverwinter Nights, Bioshock, Dungeon Siege, Half-Life, Metro, Wolfenstein, Borderlands and many, many more.
Whenever someone says they have no good games to play, I want to slap them with a wet trout or tickle them with hamsters.

I put some thought into this question and failed to narrow it down to 5 games. But i somehow managed to find a pretty decent way to describe my top 5 of all time. These are in no particular order
Divinity Franchise
2002 an awesome CRPG came out of nowhere and it grabbed me. Can't say how often i replayed that game. The world, the story, the eastereggs, all those different ways to play this game truly amazed me. The game i talk about is
Divine Divinity! I can't discribe how much i love this game. This game alone hooked me on the franchise. But all the other games of the franchise are a masterpiece by themself. I have to say that i struggled a bit with the gameplay of Ego Draconis. When Divinity: Original Sin released i danced around like a little child. I was so happy to get another amazing game from LarianStudios.

Child of Light
A little game that hit me in the feels real hard. The ambiente is truly amazing. So peaceful and relaxing. I know that there are many breathtaking stories out there but this one somehow really choked me

Even some manly tears were shed. The fighting style in this game is turnbased and fits the game perfectly. Also the main character is from Austria <3

The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I think i don't have much to say about TES. Sadly i never played Daggerfall and Arena. Morrowind (that also came out 2002) gave me so many good memories. I learned to love Tamriel with this game. I completed Oblivion on console and replayed it since then a few times on PC. Even now i find some new things in this game i somehow missed all this time. Skyrim has a special place in my heart. I had over 400h into it before I finished the mainstory for the first time. I somehow always got lost in my mind and started doing other things. So many distractions in there.

Witcher Franchise
Hell yeah witcher! I played the first game when it came out 2007. The moves how Geralt flung himself around during the fights amazed me back then. It took me not long to find out that i can gather cards in this game and so I did *blush* Throwing dice was also a fun way to get to some coin. But the story alone was something that i really liked. After that i started to read the books. OH MAN! Those books are good. I dove even deeper into the world of Geralt. Witcher 2 was even better than the first one. So many new things to explore. And then came Witcher 3. Wow. I met so many people from the books again. I met people from the previouse games. Just wow. Can't praise this game franchise enough. Play it \o/

http://store.steampowered.com/app/29203 ... Wild_Hunt/
Stardew Valley
Farming, fishing, making people happy and slying puddings. Oh yeah. So relaxing and fun. As mentioned before Cohh played the hell out of it and so did I
http://store.steampowered.com/app/41315 ... ew_Valley/
There are so many great games out there that it's a shame that i can't name them all in here. But i think this "Top 5" is pretty decent.

This is a very difficult question for me considering i have been a gamer for over 35 years but i will try and narrow it down.
Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh. The first game that showed how addictive a game can be
Diablo
Vampire the Masquerade
Witcher 3
Forza
FF VII
Guild Wars
Pokemon Red
Kerbal Space Program
Age of Empire
Sorry i did try to just chose 5 but i could not bring myself to delete any. Had to stop myself from adding more that do deserve to be on the list. I might have to do a top 100 one day.

That's a really good question. I've gotta agree that I don't have a ton of 'favorite games' I enjoy a lot of them. Some of the games that have stuck out in my mind though are
Dragon Age: Origin
This might be my only favorite game. I have put so much time into it. Beat it on both consoles, and PC (for the mods) and done about everything I can with it. I love it. So this is for sure a favorite. Seriously, on one of the endings I actually got teared up.
Mass Effect 1/2
It's two games, but I can't say the entire series because 3 wasn't great and I haven't had any interest in Andromeda. But I've spent almost as much time on these games as on Dragon Age. Old BioWare was the shit.
Witcher Franchise
Played all 3 games. Ashamed to admit I didn't beat 2 but I've put a ton of time into them and loved them all.
Skyrim
It's Skyrim.
The Blackwell Series
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/13237/
If you haven't heard of this series, check it out. I played all but the last one. The story on these is fantastic and I really enjoyed them.
So I guess basically any game with a solid story.
Notable mention:
Golden Eye 64
Halo
Transistor

2- Shining Force 2
[/QUOTE]
Oh wow, little shocked to see this game listed as I've always loved it and still play it, usually once a year. I still have the whole series a few feet away on Sega Genesis but 2 was definitely my favorite of them.
Anyways, my list:
1. Shining Force 2 - As stated above, play this game usually once a year. Even bought it on steam.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/34270 ... _Classics/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/71160 ... _Force_II/
2. Diablo 2 - First PC game that just consumed me , even though I havent played it in quite some time, still probably in top 3 for hours /played
3. Final Fantasy IV - I played this one a lot on my sister's Snes, I think she eventually sold all the games/console but I bought the Playstation 1 "Final Fantasy Chronicles" that contained both this game and Chrono Trigger. I eventually bought the steam port as well as Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, which is a continuation of the story. (first time I had played that one)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/31275 ... ANTASY_IV/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/34683 ... TER_YEARS/
4. Divinity: Original Sin 1 - My friend had been telling me all about this game when it went up on Kickstarter but I had never really given it much thought and told him I would give it a shot. After putting in a ton of hours in the Early Access Act 1, I got super hype for the release. The day of release we planned a Co-op playthrough and had a blast playing it the next 2-3 weeks. Eventually they announced the Enhanced Edition that contained full voice acting and of course we played through that one and loved every second of it trying new ability combos/classes that we didn't use during the first playthrough. Once Divinity: Original Sin 2 was announced, I immediately Kickstarted it and cannot wait for the new one next week on September 14. I have planned a solo playthrough, a playthrough with my Co-op buddy from the first and eventually a full 4-man playthrough once other friends can make time. I've also gone and bought the entire Divinity franchise to play eventually since Larian has proven to make great games.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/43515 ... nal_Sin_2/
5. ToeJam & Earl 1 - Another Sega Genesis classic in my eyes, another game I can and still replay. For this game I had originally learned about it from an old friend and got this game my next birthday?christmas?. My step-brother and I would stay up super late playing this game always trying to beat it and even after we did, we still went back and played it countless nights. The second game of the series was okay but it was a completely different game and not nearly as fun. They are actually coming out with a brand new Toejam & Earl game on steam soon which goes back to the same style of gameplay the first game has. I missed the Kickstarter for this but plan to buy it on Day 1 once possible.

I never got to play sly cooper, but it always looked like a fun game. I've only ever played the Civilization series from Sid. Stardew I didnt get to watch cohh play but i hear from you and others its fantastic. Path of Exile i want to play badly, but it seems pretty overwhelming. I've never actually heard of Hotline Miami 2 so ill probably check out some gameplay.
