During the past week, Star Citizen has reached $18 million in funding after hitting $17 million. According to the letter from the chairman, Chris Roberts, the $18 million goal unlocks "exclusive star system for backers", which means the backers will be able to start their journey in a system that is unavailable to others as a starting point. Now a new funding goal is set: $20 million - their penultimate planned stretch goal.
