The future of Persona developer Atlus has been secured by Sega.
Sega acquired bankrupted publisher Index Corporation, the publisher of Atlus' titles, in September last year. The Index Corporation will now be split in two, Sega has said, as of April 1, 2014: Atlus and Index.
Atlus will continue making games, such as Persona 5, and will consist of 121 employees. Index's 166 employees will get cracking content on distribution, systems development, and advertisements.
"The purpose of this divide is to maximize the creation of synergies within Sega Sammy," reports Gematsu, "as well as within each industry of the Sega Group. With the companies divided, Sega aims to further its growth and expedite new business development."
Persona 5 will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive, and is due out in Japan before the end of 2014. Alongside the Persona series, Atlus is also responsible for Shin Megami Tensei, Etrian Odyssey, and Dragon's Crown.
