Good Day fellow Cohhmunity,
I heard you all are on a big ArcheAge-Hype, but I personally prefer Black Desert Online.
It's kind of like ArcheAge, but with more features and Action-based Combat. Let me show you some Videos about Black Desert Online.

It is easy to talk about the hype of a game without any real experience. How well the mechanics work together and how much they change to westernize the game will play a big role. One of the videos talked about the penalty in dying in PvP and how you can lose items. Me personally I like that feature, but a lot of people don't want to work real hard on something just to lose it. If the PvP is balanced and engaging then I wouldn't mind it. I believe it was Perfect World that had that, but you could buy dolls in the cash shop that would prevent you from dropping anything. It might have been Silkroad, not really sure. Perfect World was a great game on the Korean side and just did not do that well when ported.
As far as the Arch Age hype, it really doesn't pertain to me. I understand there is a lot to do in the game and all that fun stuff; however from what I seen the questing isn't really engaging to me. The story line doesn't really seem to exist. Ever since I play Star Wars, I have come to really look for an engaging story line and even in ESO I find that part to be entertaining. I do realize end game for ESO doesn't seem to be there, but with the limited play schedule I have and the 3 different Alliances where each story line is different I think I will be engaged in that for quite sometime. I may try Arch Age on release, depending on how much I am digging ESO at the time. That being said I fall into Cohh's suggestion on not spending 150 dollars on a game I am not committed to playing. That's the beauty of gaming, there is so many options in MMOs right now that there is plenty for us to choose from.

The combat of Black Desert is amazing, but the sandbox elements Archeage has lacks a bit in Black Desert from what I've read. I'll wait till Bikeman releases a youtube vod on Black Desert as he's playing in the CB.

Well I'd like to mention that Perfect World International had a pretty big playerbase at some point before they changed a bunch of stuff, the endgame pvp in that game was pretty fun with the territory wars and all that.
I do have my hopes for Black Desert but god knows when it's gonna be released for the western market.

I have been following and watching this games progress as well, but as Shivor mentioned, who knows when/if it would ever be released in NA. Given that it is still being developed in Korean means that they aren't even to the point of teaming up with a NA publisher to westernize it.
I doubt we will see it in NA for quite some time.

This is a youtuber who has CBT2 access for Black Desert. I've followed and watched every video pertaining to BDO, and I got to say after the flare and flash this game seems EXTREMELY shallow and boring (This coming from an adamant player of RFO.) Atm concerning BDO - I'm going to be reserved and just wait. First impressions tho I'm not impressed. (Which sucks.)

Pretty much looks like roolom described it .. the typical quick money grab games. Some nice graphics and everyone goes woo woo. With today's game engines getting some decent graphics stomped out is rather common. But the details are very lacking

Yah, like I said it "looks" damn awesome haha. I've always been a Gameplay > graphics kind of guy though which is why older MMO's still keep my attention. I haven't been able to find an MMO that's made me stick with it for so long...Quite sad.
