DayZ thoughts

Hey everyone, I just recently got DayZ from someone and am excited to jump in and start streaming it.

However, I've heard some negative feedback regarding UI, Inventory System and controls. Does anyone have any insight on this? What are your opinions? I'm curious what you guys think.

I haven't even started the game yet, but I did play Arma II a little, and DayZ is built off the Arma III game, correct? I did feel completely lost in Arma II when it came to controls.

DayZ is not even being supported anymore from what I have heard and I have not even played it but some like it and some don't. You are your own judge when it comes to gaming everyone has there own style. Its like an inbetween of Arma 2 and 3 so like I said just if you like it keep playing if not then well like me just another game that sits on steam that is never played again.

In my opinion they tried way too hard to play off the hype of the arma 2 mod. By doing so they released a mess of a game that isn't nearly as fun as the mod was especially seeing as a lot of the mods stuff wasnt even implemented into the stand-alone release.

Really? Not even supported anymore? Well that would be a huge shame. I sure hope it is, it has a ton of potential. Streamed it today for the first time with a friend and had a pretty good time. Of course some things are a little silly and need a lot of work to fix the bugs. I don't imagine it would be much fun alone.

I've heard this as well. I'm curious why the stand-alone game would neglect to include features from the mod, especially the good features.

I really hope it isn't dead.

The main developer Dean Hall is leaving the team and going on to future projects. But I was misinformed they are still pushing out updates but at an extremely slow rate. From my understanding there like most games are hackers and a good bit of KOS players in the game which would make it unenjoyable to the say the least.

Ive played the standalone and the mod for 100s of hours so heres my thoughts:

Trust no one even if they seem friendly they ll kill you as soon as you get something good

Kill on sight dont even bother talking to them

you have little to no chance if someone get the drop on you so always be wary of others around you

The controls the ui and the inventory system and the gunplay are one or if not the most annoying things ive seen in any game

Unexpected events will occur randomly for example you ll walk in the woods while making a fire get kidnapped and forced to drink bleach and die a slow and painful death or you ll get picked up by a bus full of people having a party or someone will actually not shoot you and give you a gun a some food

There are 1 million hackers in this game if you see one log off immediately and change servers

As much as i hate this game i love this game for the completely breath taking unexpected things that happen to you mainly its a running simulator but for that 20 minutes of something unexpected it will be one of the best or most harrowing experiences you ve ever had while playing a video game.

I can only comment on the streaming part as I never got the standalone Dayz. I personally do not find it enjoyable to watch streamed, however I do love watching youtube videos of it that are well edited. FrankieonPC1080 or something like that does a really good job of editing out the 30 minutes of travel time and keeps the entertaining stuff in the clips. I have played the mods for Arma as I do love Arma II and III. But it can be a game that you can stumble upon some nice gear fast or spend hours not coming across anything of use. My buddy spent three hours the first day in the standalone to finally run across a gun and some ammo, a mosin to be exact. Not even minutes later he was walking down some stairs and poof he broke his leg and couldn't go anywhere with no one around to help. Oddly enough he still plays it, if that was me I probably would have never logged back in with a first experience like that.

Haha, yep. I understand that. It can be a bit boring to stream I imagine, which is why I only do it with a buddy in the room with me, so we play together. Adds a lot I think.

I fell off a massive boat and broke both my legs 20 minutes into my first time playing it. So that was cool!
