I know this might seem like a silly question, but i was just wondering i swapped my monitors over last nite to see if i could get better frames when gaming.

The monitor i was using had a native resolution of 1440x900 and its widecreen and it seemed like some of the games i should have been able to play without any problems im getting real low frames, i gather that my graphics card cant do that resolution very well in games or something, This is my graphics card at the moment http://www.ebuyer.com/368746-asus-hd-66 ... tAodWlIAkg
The max resolution for that card is higher than the resolution for my monitor so it should be able to handle 1440x900.

So i changed my 2nd monitor 4:3 1280x1024 resolution and that obvioulsy helps alot with frames but i do like having a widescreen monitor just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone knows how to sort it coz games look crap if i use 1280x1024 on my 1440x900 monitor

first of all this is some seriously outdated hardware, time for a upgrade? I dont know what games you play but i dont think you can expect to run any new games on it. secondly if you do the math the 4:3 one actually got 1% more pixels so i think the problem in this case the problem isnt that your gpu cant handle the resolution but rather that the games isnt optimized for 1440x900. its a very odd resolution and i dearly recommend updating your monitor/rig. Can you post your pc's specs too?

Upgrade is impossible for me at the moment as my 2nd child is due to be born any day now and i am skint.

The reason my monitor is that resolution is that i brought my old pc for £100 a few years ago and ive only upgraded certain bits of it and the gpu was given free

well that isnt to shaby, its just the gpu that's a bit old. If you ever get any money over i would recommend a 750ti or a 260x but the children comes first ofc. and Congrats btw may the lord RNG rain blessings on your child

My native is 1280x1024 also 75Hz 6500k color temperature very old monitor, has screen burn-in works great!
