I have been looking for a new video card to get. The one I have now is an AMD HD radion 7450. Don't get me wrong that not a bad video card but it won't let me play any game I have been looking at. The one I have my eye on and it's not a very bad one at that is
MSI AMD Radeon R9 280X 6GB Gaming Graphics Card - 6GB GDDR5. Link will be at the end of the post. That card right now is $400. I have not seen any other card that offers 6gb of gddr5 for less then about 1k.

first of all, why do you need 6gb vram, you only "need" that kind of memmory if you do 4k but then that card doesnt have the processing power to handle 4k. a general thumbrule, stick to the cards standard memmory config(often the most common and cheapest ones),
the best none "wallet killer" card:

450$
and one step down:

the nvidia option

400$
the amd one brings mantle(better fps in some games) and more bang for the buck, with nvidia you have gamestream(streaming games to their shield devices),shadowplay(streaming without straining your cpu) and g-sync(v-sync but without the inputlag(requiers expensive monitor)). These advantages might not last for long though, because amd is working on matching g-sync with their freesync, and they are also working on matching shadowplay. Nvidia hopes that dirtectx 12 fixes the same problems that mantle did and thereby gets the same peformence
anyhow, whats the rest of the specs

I like AMD cards and would like to try and keep my cpu and video card the same so I don't have to mix programs.
