Experimented with some textures and stuff today. Rather than just applying a colour to the shapes I decided to try using actual images for textures.

Came up with this simple sword and it turned out great! Some imperfections I noticed now, but not bad for a second piece :)

Not bad much better than stuff i try to do in blender, is that blender render or cycles?

Cycles. I really prefer the ability to customize more with the nodes in Cycles. Still really new with the program but from what I've read Blender is good for non-photorealistic things while Cycles will provide more realistic effects so much better at real lighting, reflections, etc.

The handle looks good, the lighting on the blade part is very off, its too matte, not shiny enough for a sword blade. Also the form of the blade is wierd, but yeah other than that, not bad

I think the blade needs a better metallic material (not a texture) to make it more reflective but other than that it looks nice.
