Regarding the viewer bots

The number I've seen on DayZ/Smite/ESO lately has been silly. A viewer of my stream linked me a twitter which helps to track view botters (although only the larger ones). There are plenty of smaller view bots that run 10-30 viewers. Also, many smite channels now have the bots making accounts, they also type in chat with random stuff like "nice stream" "LOL" and other generic sayings. You can recognize these from the viewers having 0 followed channels, no icon, and names that have random numbers at the end. Here is an example tweet:

Cohh's recent stream rant was spot on, these people are cheating their way up to the top. Tonight the top 5 had 4 view botters in TESO until Cohh came online. For those like myself (still waiting on my cohhilition app!) who are doing it the hard way, grinding them followers day in and out, it's frustrating beyond belief to be continually pushed down on the twitch page. Keep up the good fight guys.

I hope that if more streamers (especially big ones) take up arms against bots twitch might finally do something. Look at how long it took them to step in on illegal raffles.

sorry i have to say this but i think cohh veiw bots him self.i have watched cohh since archeage when he averaged 3000-4000 viewers.till now.he went from 3000-4000 viewser to 5000-6000 viewers until recently.with these kick starters.i don think for one second he went from 5000-6000 viewers to 12000-15000 viewers with out view botting which was around the time of heros song and his other kick starter.i dont think for a second he wouldnt view bot to get people in there to donate to the kick starters.

i watched cohh every day just about on and off and instantly he went from 5000-6000 viewers to 12000-15000 around xcom 2 its not THAT great of game same with dragins dogma 5000-6000 viewers..i also started to see 15000 viewers ONLY when the 2 kick starters were going.i think he did it to get money plain and simple.if he isnt doing it one of the kick starter projects are.summit1g averages 20000 viewers.lirik goes from 20000-30000 viewers.cohh going from 5000-6000 viewers to 12000-15000 is suspicious to me.and the numbers jave started to drop after the kick starters.

dont get me wrong i watch cohh daily as a lurker but i dont sip his kool aid.if he goes back down to 6000-7000 viewers after a while he was view botting.his night streams only average 2000-3000 viewers.i dont think he has 15000 people watching him at 10am in the morning.i still watch cohh to this day im just saying i dont put it past him or him having those kickstartrs pay for view botting its a business after all.it will be interesting to see his numbers a few months after the kickstarter.i think they will go gradually back down to 5000-6000 for the morning stream.

i still lurk in the stream i dont sip his kool aid.

Are you for real? I'm sure you didnt experience the original games. Yes, Xcom IS that great of a game. And people might not afford it and is really curious how it is. And tbh if I would watch any streamer to check out the game and be entertaining, it would be Cohh.

I'm pretty sure Cohh dont use view bots... Its one of the few channels you can accually talk to the viewers AND the streamer. Do viewbots talk with other viewers? Ofcourse someone is just watching, thats the case in any channel. But what are you saying? That viewbots donate to the kickstarter? Well how nice of them Maybe count how many donations needed to react the goal? Thats far more than 15k

All in all, check out the streams were they talk about streaming. Its quite common that view count go up and down for various reasons. Type of game, hype of game and maybe something not twitch related stopping ppl from viewing.

You do realize that the earth is round and the time is not the same around the globe? So I guess you are from Brazil or Greenland? Since Cohh start 8am... For me he start 2pm... I can see him before I go to work or a late arrival when I'm done at work.

he doesnt have the tips or sub s coming in that those numbers are generating.i am a lurker since archeage he was only going up 2000 viewers at a tim till his kickstarters that he milked from his chat.as i said i dont drink his kool aid like you do.neven dragon dogmas vwas 6000 viewers then all the sudden buy the kick starters he had 12000-15000 viewers.it just magically doubled his numbers when he was pushing for money.sip his kool aid if you want.

Summit1g have twice the amount of views and twice the amount of followers. TWICE! We are talking about half a million who click follow! Are you saying there is millions of bots?
Lirik also have twice the amount of followers and TRIPLE the amount of views, that's 60000000 more views.
They are also abit different streamers, at least Summit who play more pvp, that drag more viewers for competitive value.

He was a few hundres from 15k viewers just now and that playing an "old" game.

milking means pushing you agenda on to others.when he did heros song and had the devs talking about then trying to push for donations for project resugerance or what ever it was.he said we nad to hit this goal to be funded and did nothing but talk about it the whole time he played xcom2.in a word he roped anyone watching to donate to the kick starters till it got funded.thats milking chat.

Milking is draining the last drop out of something. When your talking about something else than sucking on something.... Again I dont see your problem, its his stream, he has invested in those two games ofc will he be telling about it when he streams. The reason he repeat is, is that new ppl come to the stream and ask the same questions.

If you dont like that then just turn off the stream. Even if he talks about it all the time, it dont mean that you have to donate to the kickstarter. Thats your own choice. As you said, I'm a 'fanboy' (not that you know what other communities I'm a part of), but I didnt use any money for the kickstarter. And thats my choice. I might buy the game, but thats another story.

I could go word for word into your post Silkeysmooth and explain exactly why everything on my channel makes sense in the broader sense of Twitch, and how my ups and downs are basically the same tide that all other top channels on Twitch take, but I don't think it would help tide you.

For Fallout 4 (which was months ago), I topped out at 62,000 viewers and had a slow decline. If you look at my numbers after that, they only jumped when I entered new games (or new to me games) and the biggest jumps came from planning in those games.

Subs and tips are NOT dependant on viewer numbers. In fact, it's arguable that there is a "sweet spot" for every stream where they get the most donations and subscribers, but having a lot of viewers != having a lot of subs. That's been proven time and time again.

Look over graphs of my last three months on Twitch. Every single jump, every single push can be explained. I've even had days where I wasn't the top of a game (Overwatch, for example) and on those the numbers just sync right up again with the normal tides of Twitch.

There comes a point in a streamers career where viewbotting does nothing for them. There is zero benefit to me view botting. It wouldn't get me more viewers, it wouldn't get me more subs, my channel is already established and I'm a vocal opponent of it.

Also in terms of the Summit & Lirik donations, the fact that I have made it so donations need to be a minimum of $10 is EXPLICITLY to cut down on the amount of incoming donations to the channel. I don't want there to be donations every few minutes with big blocks of text to read. In fact, the reason I did this was due to how many I was getting from before, especially during the big streams (Fallout, etc).

So I'm going to end it with this... Please don't come onto my forums and start accusing me of something you absolutely have zero idea about. You don't understand Twitch (which is clear from your explanations of what you think is going on) and you don't understand how larger streams work. I'm not angry and I'm not trying to be mean here, it's just an issue of ignorance which you are taking a few steps too far. If you'd like to talk about this more in private, feel free to contact me there, but I'd prefer not to sow the seeds of confusion by you stating clearly wrong information as fact.

An easy way to detect view bots is to just install FFZ. You can easily see the difference between "watching now" and "currently in chat" numbers. If the differential is way off then odds are it's view bots. I've never seen that on Cohh's channel ever, and I've watched for well over a year. My personal opinion is that Cohh has grown so much because of all the hard work him and the Mods put in to the show.

UFO/XCom has had at least 5 sequels and spin offs AND 6 or more third party clones! That is a rather strong sign of a dedicated following. As to why Cohh's figures would have jumped on streaming it, well if I recall correctly he was (at least one of) the first significant streamer to get early access to xcom2.

hey cohh i still watch you stream but im reporting what i have seen.i have watched you since archeage i knew your numbers since tince then and i know them no.when you top 62,000 that can happen but you went back down to 3k - 6k viewers.when you streamed dragons dogma you swere still at 6k-7k viewers.then you almost triple your viewers to 12k-15k right when you did your kick starters.i dont think it was a coincidenceyou got those viewers and i have started to see them taper off now.

yes the tip and sub do match the viewers most of the time.lirik,soda and summit have them subbing and tipping constantly during their streams.

I'm not really sure at all what you're referring to about having big numbers during my Kickstarter. I can tell you right now that the Kickstarters had nothing to do with the numbers; that comes from positioning and scheduling.

Here's the deal, man. I want you to go to http://www.twinge.tv/cohhcarnage and really look at all the statistics since Archeage, which you keep quoting. Look at the numbers. Coordinate them with releases. I'm saying this because you really clearly do not have all the info; you've focused on a few key stats that you seem to think support your argument and your not really understanding how it all works together.

This is going to be my last post in this thread; if you're not going to really dig into the facts before making arguments, there is little we can do to have a discussion. You're welcome to feel however you do about this, but just know; I'm vehemently against viewbotting, it would do nothing to help me, and I will never associate the channel with it in any way, as I've said countless times on stream and on other streams as well.

Biting off way more than you can chew, silkeysmooth. I know you're jealous, but you're trying to accuse one of the streamers with the most production value, nicest communities, and who gives the most back to his viewers in attention, rewards, giveaways, game variety, viewer influence, polls, choice-making...of view botting? And you threaten to report him based on zero evidence? And yet you still claim to want to watch him?

You're not only trying to have your cake and eat it too. You're trying to ruin your cake, have your cake, and eat the same cake you're trying to ruin. Your very actions and posts are inconsistent of anyone actually offended by some purported offense and are quite evident of someone trying to cause controversy for the hell of it. In fact, I'd not be surprised if the only reason you "watch" is to type "!enter".

Next time, try at least doing some research and thinking of something psychologically consistent to say before you attempt to attack someone and get your jollies.

Cohh does not and will not ever need viewbots. He's got us. And Cohh is nice enough a guy, as his patient responses to your baseless accusations prove, that he'll never take that for granted.
