I am sorry I don't know much about AMD processors. I did find a good site that compares a bunch in terms of gaming. http://www.xtremegaminerd.com/best-cpu-for-gaming/

I also looked up if AMD procs work better with AMD GPUs. It looks like you can use an Nvidia GPU with an AMD cpu. Good luck!

GPU and CPU are in general unrelated. RAM, Mainboard as well as CPU however are interlinked.

In general there is a few points that you might want to consider when looking for a CPU, no matter AMD or Intel, besides price and performance.

The first is what games you are playing in general, or what are you planning on playing in the near future with your system. Deping on the games, your requirements for CPU might vary drastically. While most games with an environment that is preset (Witcher etc.) are not too bad on your CPU and are more heavy on your GPU, others, especially games that are based on seeds and generate the world around you by calculating it, will be a lot harder on CPU ressources.

The second aspect is if you are doing anything else besides games, that might require a lot of CPU power. Streaming, or in general encoding, as well as rendering videos can require a lot of CPU power.

The third is if you want to overclock your CPU.

Overall for a decent gaming rig, usually a CPU for ~150-300$ is pretty decent, higher than that simply for gaming is most of the time a waste. If you have higher needs on a CPU like said streaming, rendering etc, you might pick a more expensive one though. Some CPUs are able to be overclocked, but these can also be very expensive. Generally speaking, such a CPU is not worth it for a rig that will never see any overclocking at all.

Also don't forget that most CPU fans which are included with the CPU are kind of shitty. Consider getting an extra fan for the CPU thats not stock. I can recommend noctua coolers, which are a bit pricey but have a very decent quality and will serve you for a good time.

In general for gaming core speed is more important than core count. An 2 core running at 4GHz will perform better than a 10 core running at 3GHz as games rarely make use of multiple cores.

Why is it that you insist on using an AMD cpu?

Right now AMD isn't in a great spot with except the absolute budget market Intel is better value for money at the moment. If you insist on getting an AMD cpu I would highly recommend waiting for the new ZEN architecture set to launch in 2017 and see how those compare to Intel.
