The PlayStation 4 is coming to India on January 6, Sony has announced. The system will be available in the region for 39,990 Rupees, or around $640.
When the PS4 launches in India, Sony's new console will be available in 49 countries around the world, compared to 13 for the Xbox One.
"We have received an overwhelming response for PlayStation 4 globally and are hoping to replicate this success in India too," Sony India managing director Kenichiro Hibi said.
The PS4 has sold 2.1 million copies around the world since launch on November 15, neck-and-neck with the Xbox One. Sony expects to sell 3 million consoles globallyby the end of 2013--now just 11 days away.
