Why 400 games? Well, I meant to do my personal top 500 games, but when I hit The Adventures of Bayou Billy, quality began to really plummet. Moreover, I wanted to be able to recommend any game on this list - it's a "top" list, after all. Looking at the "worst" games on my list, I still really like all of them, and would definitely recommend them. How cool is that?
Before we get any farther, here's the TLDR version: Metroid Prime is my favorite game of all time. This video explains why.
Although I love ranking games, and have worked on top lists professionally (check out IGN's Top 100 NES Games and Top 100 SNES Games lists), this experience was different. I was able to judge games not only on their critical merits, but on my memories and personal connection with each. I used to play Mario Party 5 with close friends and cocktails. It was great time, but not necessarily a great game.
