Hey guys I built this computer about 2 years ago and have done some upgrades since. I have 8gigs of ram now and want to upgrade to 16. Do I need the same Brand and model that I used before or can I use any others that will get me to 16 as long as they operate at the same Mhz and such. Or can i just take the old out and put all new ram in without any problems? Might be a stupid question but I would like some reassurance lol.

I have 16GB and dual monitors, one for playing games and one for Web Browsing, chat programs and voice programs typically and I come no where near using 50% of the 16GB so you may not use the money you ever spend. I would check to make sure your memory utilization justifies the increase first.

Another good point for getting 16GB RAM (apart from WHAT-IF) is that if you will do a LOT less "wear" on your SSD's, if applicable..
16GB should be enough for you to completely turn off HDD swapping, but even if you don't the OS will not use the HDD/SSD nearly as much as when you have 8 or even 4GB.
