Let's go back....back in time!
What are some games you played early on that you'll always remember?
For me I would have to say the original Myst is one of my most memorable. Huddling around our old Mac in the mid 90's trying to figure out these puzzles that were obviously out of our skill-range. The creepy atmosphere of it and the real life cutscenes for the characters made it a pretty scary game when you were a kid! I think it's a game I'll have to re-visit sometime since I've forgotten how all the puzzles work.
Additionally a game I think very few of you will know about, Labyrinth of Time was also memorable. Very very similar to Myst but 100 times more creepy haha. The puzzles were also, in my opinion, a bit more challenging.
Unforgettable video game experiences?

For me it was Shadow of the Colossus. Huge Monsters, a Hero story, swords, horses and a fantasy world. For what more could you ask for? (maybe a HD PC port)
I come into the stream and.....

Phew.....there are so many unforgettable experiences over the times. I have 2 games that stand out above all the rest.
The first of which is the original Curse of Monkey Island games. I absolutely loved the humor and the characters.
Second is the Mass Effect series. That game had a compelling story, great cast of characters, emotional connections and decisions that made you stop and think. I do agree that the ending after Mass Effect 3 was bad, but for me playing these games was like reading a great book or watching a great movie. I cannot wait for the new installment in the series.

Curse of Monkey Island games was a series I sadly didn't get into...Not sure why. Heard great things about it!
And I agree the Mass Effect series is pretty good. Writing was great and good gameplay to boot!

To this day I remember there being a demo of a game called Legend of the Dragoon in my local toysRus somewhere probably around 11/12 years ago(i was about 7). after playing for all of 5 minutes I was hooked and to this day it remains one of my favorite RPG games ever. Still waiting for that sequel lol.

If I had to pinpoint one game that gives me that nostalgia chill every time I think about it, I would say Dark Cloud for ps2.
I remember being so involved with the story and characters as a kid, and I spent hours upon hours designing each town and ensuring each villager was happy with their location.
I need to play that game again....

Ahh I've seen the cover art for Dark Cloud before but I never got into the PS2 as a kid. My friend owned one and I experienced Unreal Tournament for the first time on that
. SO pumped for the new one coming out.
I was a Nintendo kid

One of my early gaming memories was playing Little Ninja Brothers on the NES with my friend. the game had a weird "save" system where every time you saved it would give you something like a 20-30 character code/password made up of letters, numbers, and many symbols. my friend and i where young and had horrible hand righting so we would have his mom come in and write down the code/password every time we saved.

I'll never forget Final Fantasy 7. It was my first intro to RPGs and me and a friend used to play through the same save together. Always remember jumping on my bike after school and riding over there like a mad man just to play some more every day haha

I don't know if you know these for some old for some not games like, Oni, Battle realms. These were my childhood games, that pushed me to this fantastic gaming world. Those games are really good now that i remember... I think i will search in my cd collection and try these once again to remember good old times

I'll never forget that feeling of walking out of Helgen Cave and experiencing Skyrim's Open World for the first time. I'd do anything to re-roll time just to experience that magical feeling. Oh, and it's music was pretty great too.
But to me, in my whole gaming life, Deus Ex: Human Revolution just takes it, by a long mile. It had great gameplay. And it's compelling (to say the least) storyline combined with the absolutely fantastic soundtrack made it the only game that actually made me cry after it's ending. Maybe I should play it again for the fourth time...

I love this thread, so many games that I remember fondly. Nice to see it had similar effects on others.
For me it was Grim Fandango. I know people love it and this may seem somewhat mainstream now. However it doesn't change the fact that it holds a place in my heart. The first time I played the game was from a demo disc I got within A PC Gamer magazine. I played that demo over and over again. I don't know how many times I beat it. I always wanted to know what happened after the demo.
It wasn't until a few years later I was able to actually pick up a full copy of the game from a store. I held it in my hands and stared at it for a bit. I couldn't believe that I would finally find out what happened. I was so excited to install the game and get started. The game did not disappoint (other than the controls but I mastered those already). If you missed this game I totally recommend trying it or waiting for the remastered version.
Another great memory was the day I finally got an N64 and was able to play Mario 64 without standing in a store at the demo unit.

One of my most unforgettable video game moments was in EVE Online. It was basically a 3v1 where our side had about 1100 people, and their side had about 3 fleets of 250 people each (so 750 people). We were defending our Player Owned Station (or POS) which was about to be destroyed by the enemy forces. However, at the very last second, right before the enemy forces were to successfully destroy the POS, our logistics fleet successfully induced fuel into the POS which allowed the POS to regain power and reactivate shields. The shields ended up ejecting the enemy Siege Dreadnaughts away from the POS and saving the POS. Much celebration was had in comms.
