One day I could watch and smoothly stream Cohh on "Source." During the broadcast he mentioned he was upgrading some hardware so he could capture and stream at 60 FPS. The next day I log in and the stream is no longer smooth on "Source." I lower the quality to "high" and it will stream fine.
My question is this. What part of my hardware do I need to change, so I can once again watch at "Source"? I am running a Intel Q8300 2.5Ghz quad core, 8GB's ram and a 6870 GPU. Internet is 50MB's down and 5MB's up. I am going to try and upgrade the machine anyway as it's quickly being outpaced by minimum game requirements. I just want to know whats killing my stream viewing quality.

your system should be fine for watching video. Your graphics card could use an update but I doubt that's it. There are many factors as to why you may not be able to get the full source stream. First off try pingtest.net (It's a more advanced speedtest) and see if your getting any packet loss or jitter.

I will give that a try. Today while playing "Shadow Warrior" it streamed smooth and great quality on source, so I think it maybe traffic related on my end. I'll try pingtest.com next time I experience a drop in quality.theskuggi wrote:your system should be fine for watching video. Your graphics card could use an update but I doubt that's it. EDIT: I just heard Cohh's at 720P today instead of 1080P, so that could be why I am seeing a difference on my end.

He mentioned early in the stream that multiple people were having issues with video quality.nodepoker wrote:I will give that a try. It's weird because my machine is pretty old but didn't have any issues with the 1080 settings.

How much bitrate is cohh pushing for his 1080p stream?

Any rig is going to be fine with streaming. It's going to be totally based on the quality of your net connection (and of twitchs, and cohh's) at any given time. Your connection could also vary at different times of day.
