Anyone have a good recommendation for a gaming headset up to $150 in cost?

there's the hyper x cloud, the astro a50/a40, and then there's the siberia v3s(i havent tested these but the v2s had extreme success. those are the ones i could think of.

they seem good but many are complaining about the comfort, aslo i forgot to mention the logitech g930, they're wireless. the thing is most "gaming headsets" cap out at 100$ then there is the sennheiser gaming headset and the astros. after that your solution is often headphones with seperate mics

I actually use the Logitech G35 headset. I absolutely love the surround sound headset and think its a must to know exactly where someone is firing at ya. The down side, is that the last headset I think lasted probably 1 year and they started cracking. Gave them away to one of my friends so they could try before they bought. I did buy another G35 though.... It has the mic that I need and the surround sound USB.

Thats a major downside by me, Scorp. I have a Logitech G330 where the strap snapped in half, foam just dissolved off the ears and in-line volume control died. Still works, just uncomfortable to use. So hearing that that set actually starts cracking after a year make me shy away from it.

I know what you mean man... I was on the internet though and at the time all I had was the G35's. I may try out the Razer Headsets later on but for some reason they did not have any that suited my needs. I don't know what it was but it had to have 7.1 surround sound, mic, and connect to USB. I know now razer has some headsets that can perform now... I also have a snowball mic so now the mic on the headsets are obsolite heh

Looks good, but I'd need a built in mic.

I can only totally recommend to get a seperate mic. Mic's on headsets never outlast the headsets..

So I ended up getting the PC 330 GAME Headset. I have to say, it is a bit tight on the head and after hearing a recording of myself I can't say I'm terribly pleased with the quality of audio output.
I was hoping that after I won one of those H1Z1 Bounties that I could measure the Headset I bought against the Razer that Cohh would be giving out, but haven't heard back about the Bounty stuff yet.

Senheiser PC363D is about the best headset w/mic around these days.
Another option is a modmic- http://www.modmic.com/
You can then attach that to the grill on regular headphones. Opens up a lot of HIGH quality options. Sennheiser HD598's, AudioTechnica ATH-AD700x, the DT770's etc. Stay away from anything razer, astro, logitech, steele series, triton, turtle beach etc. They all suck.
