I just wanted to drop in and leave a note after dropping off the map without a peep. I'll spare you all of the gory details about how my scumbag ISP Centurylink dropped my account and pulled their service out of the area, leaving using a mobile wifi hotspot as my primary source of internet as my only choice, but that's why I stopped watching Twitch. 14gb a month doesn't go far for a heavy PC user, and streaming pretty much anything became a thing of the past.

So until one of the other Telecoms picks up providing service in my area I'll be entertaining myself with offline games and ebooks.

Yay.

But thanks for the entertainment while I was around Cohh, I enjoyed it and look forward to doing so again.

That said... I finally got the push to check out Rimworld after hearing you talk about it repeatedly. Thank you, I'm having a blast with it, and I'd just like to take a moment to tell you about Vas, because Vas has a story worth hearing.

Vas is a mercenary from the Rapier pack, a group of pirates that trouble the nearby colonies regularly. His luck started to go south when he decided to get in a knife fight with my researcher Feebs. Being a slim girl who just turned 20, her looks are very deceiving. She's been a test subject her entire life before crashing on the planet. Feebs has that look in her eyes that says she's spent enough time in the presence of sharp, pointy objects that she knows exactly where to put them.

I give Feebs every knife I find. Including Vas', after she captured him.

Vas spent 20ish days as my prisoner. Him and his pal Gambler, who had lost a leg and an arm. Gambler was eventually used to fertilize the rice paddy as I was running short on food and just couldn't seem to find the time to scratch together enough wood to get him a peg leg and send him on his way, after I gave Vas one.

Did I mention Feebs is good with knives?

Vas turned out to be a decent craftsman, after he decided to come out and be a part of the colony through some gentle persuasion by Branwell. Branwell is the size of a well fed Ox with a thick black mohawk and a missing eye from a previous encounter with the Rapiers. She's good with people.

Seriously though, all she did was chat with him a bit and he came around. Why're you looking at me like that? He came out of that room with more body parts than he went in with. You can't complain about that, right?

Vas has a unique position in the colony, being the only man in a group of otherwise young and capable women. Six of them, as a matter of fact. He tries to leverage this position to his advantage at every opportunity, indefatigably propositioning and making passes at every one of them over the dinner table, in the storage room, in the garden, etc...

He gets shot down every time, but bugger me if the man doesn't keep trying with a twisted determination.

This became a bit awkward when Vas' daughter, Regina, crash-landed in an escape pod nearby. We nursed her back to health and she decided to stick around with us. She's the same age as all of the other women, in her early 20's. I can't imagine what it must be like dropping out of the sky one day to wake up and find yourself on a farm on some backwater planet where your dad has been working on makin' the hanky-panky with half a dozen different girls your age. At least Vas has been polite enough to avoid all of the flirting in front of her, but it hasn't slowed him down much regardless.

Things seemed to be approaching what you could call normal until one day Vas' Ex-Wife came running down the canyon with a posse of Black Jaguar Tribalists on her heels, begging for asylum. We couldn't turn her away and let her through the door before gunning down the savages until the survivors fled in terror.

Needless to say Vas' prospect of finding a potential new wife went downhill quickly. Vasilica hasn't forgotten about being ditched with a young child while he gallivanted about seeking his fortune by looking down the barrel of a gun.

That being said, I can see why she's his Ex-Wife. Temperamental, bigger than Branwell and in possession of a mop of hair that just about got sheared off and used for such when we were running low on cotton one week, she's not the greatest of catches. She doesn't clean or patch up clothes, nor work a garden, and lawd knows Vas isn't any good at anything that doesn't involve the word "Target" or a hammer. Not exactly a pair of complementary skillsets for living on the harsh frontier.

How they ever managed to get together in the first place I'll never figure out, but it's become quite apparent that she is hellbent on not letting him forget that they were, indeed, once together, and the rest of the colony seems quite amused by this. Including me. Vasilica isn't very useful, but she's healthy, and a set of spare organs was something I hadn't acquired yet. She'll stay around until she's needed. I have a feeling Vas will get a mood bonus after the procedure.

After I'm done with this I'll go back to watching Vas' life story, and see what else the narrator has in store for him.

Vas, the most sexually frustrated man in video games. Hear him sigh.

Damn. Wow. That's some story. Thanks for sharing it. Damn. If there's ever more, I'd love to hear about it. Sucks to hear about your ISP though, I'm sorry. :\ Hope circumstances get better soon!
