Streaming PC

Hi there, I have a computer sitting in my room, i was thinking that i could turn it into a computer for streaming, i was just wondering if the specs of the computer would be good as a streaming comp or if would have to upgrade it a bit, which im am fine with doing. Also i was wandering what would you guys recommend for a capture card?

• ASUS P9Z77-V
• Intel Core i5-3570 3.4GHz
• Cooler Master Storm Enforcer Mid Tower Case
• GeForce GTX 660 2GB
• ASUS Xonar DG Audio Device
• Hitachi 3.5" UltraStar 1TB
• G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)

What kind of stream are you trying to do? 1080p60/30, 720p60/30? Do you use OBS(classic or studio) or XSplit?
Personally I stream/play on the same PC. My old pc which had an i5-3570k and GTX 770 4gb did it just fine but started to show it's age.
Which is why I upgraded.
I'm sure that pc would do fine as a stream pc, but it all depends on your "target". You should be able to pull off a 720p60 stream no problem with it like it is. I'm unsure about the 1080p side though.

It's totally useless to stream 1080p ...

Why ? Because you can stream maximum with 3500Kbps and with this bitrate the quality is very disgusting...
If you wanna stream 1080p you have to use bitrate like 4500/5000 kbps for a good stream quality and for that you need :
- Connexion with minimum 5500kbps ( because you have to encode audio too )
- Be a Twitch partner

For example Cohh's stream is 720p / 60fps / 3500-4000Kbps.

And you must know your quality will decrease if you choose to stream in 60fps



One more thing to know that a lot of new streamers don't realise :

- DON'T STREAM with 3500Kbps if you are a new streamer ! Because if you are not a Twitch partner or have a lot of viewers on your channel, you won't access to "source" settings on your stream for viewers....

So that mean all people who don't have internet connexion with minimum 3500kbps will have a buffering very 3-5s...And it's very frustrating to watch a stream which just freeze every 5s...

You have to adapt your stream and your settings with your andience.

I would most likley be streaming at 720p 30fps,As i live in Australia (Worst internet out) also will be using OBS Studio

That pc would work perfect as a streaming pc. I'm not too familiar with capture cards though as I stream/game all in one.
