Hi everyone, I've been watching Cohh's stream a lot lately and I really started to like games such as 'Crea' and today's 'Subnautica'. Now I think they are called survival games (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Thing is, I'd love to play games such as stated above, but I don't know which game to start with. I've once played Terraria and Don't Starve, but didn't understand anything. I have to say that I didn't took the time to get to know the game so it was basicly me dying once and quitting the game.

Things I like about the genre is the building, customization and the adventure itself. So my question basicly is: what survival game is a great starter to the genre? Also, any tips about such games are welcome!

And I know chances are small, but if Cohh reads this today: Happy Birthday! :D

I would sort terraria and crea into the creative building rpg section more than into the survival one myself (because there really is not much that forces you to do something just to survive), but overall many of these games are very bad about explaining what you should do next, especially as they are so modular and offer so much free of choice that there is not really any single clear path.

While I dont feel like there is any single survival or building rpg that is very easy for starters what I'd recommend is either playing with friends who already know more about the game (always fun to play with others) or watch some youtube videos / streams of the gameplay. That should give you a good idea not only about what the game is like and if you might enjoy it, but also what to do for the first few hours.

Hey Rynea, thanks for your reply! Also thanks for clearing up that there's a difference between the creative- and survivalgenre. I just don't know enough about these games mainly because I was a console gamer before and only played 'famous' games instead of the hidden gems.

But I will do what you've stated and look up some gameplay video's on what to do the first couple of hours. Also that'll be a good way to check whether I like the game or not :)
