Hey everyone,
I recently got let go from my job and I'm thinking about streaming full time. I have enough savings to last me about a year, but I'm kind of nervous of doing something so uncertain like streaming for a job. Any tips ya'll can give me?

Unless you are very lucky, a year isn't generally enough to gain partnership, not saying its impossible as it has happened before but i would go into streaming full time with a back up plan, at least get a part time job, a year long gap in a resume isn't going to look good if you have to go back into full time work.

I agree with Sotonian, a gap in a resume isn't the greatest (depending on the job). With that said, I have a few questions. Do you currently stream (part-time)? What do you like about it? Would there be any room in your life for both streaming and a job? A lot of the streamers that I have heard the story of going full time say that they had a job until streaming would pay for all the bills. I really wish you luck. I know Cohh has videos on youtube about how to start up streaming. I would also recommend early episodes of Dropped Frames. Cheers!

I appreciate your honesty. I'll probably look for a small part time job so I can at least keep a small steady income to keep me afloat while I get started. I've only streamed occasionally, but so far I've enjoyed it a lot. I was messing with my stream settings the other day and I had my brother test the quality of the stream and I had a lot of fun with that. It was nice to be able to chat with him about Stardew Valley.

Maybe split the difference? Look for a normal 9-5 and at the same time start streaming part time on a regular basis.

When this sort of question comes up Cohh usually advises to do your best to make streaming a hobby while maintaining a job that has a regular paycheck and benefits. Then if streaming takes off you can transition to a streaming lifestyle from your old job.

Either way, good luck with whatever you decide!

Edit: weird, when I read this thread only the original post was there, the replies popped up after I posted. I agree with them in any event.
