I am WW2Ogre, also wwiiogre or ogre, depending where you find me playing on the web. Along time ago I was [BFG] Crom for those of you who remember the original tribes. We were in the top 10 as a team for the longest time back when the game had a million players but only 100k copies sold. Poor Sierra. I bought 7 of those copies.

I am a 52 year old male that cut my teeth on Pong, then moved upto a commodore 64 and the gold box games. Currently I play 7 Days to Die, Civ 5, Stellaris (the Star Trek New Horizons Mod).

I found this place because of Cohh's twitch stream of No Mans Sky, and by the way Cohh, thanks to you I will be buying No Mans Sky with my next pay check.

I also found out about Resurgence because of the FAQ in this forum. Once again, a huge Arcanum fan and will be monitoring the progress of the project but looks like I will also be buying/funding that as well on the following payday.

I live in the NW of the USA in North Idaho. 90 minutes from Canada and 30 minutes from Eastern Washington state. I am married with two grown up daughters also gamers. My youngest daughter told me about No Mans Sky and I told her about Cohh's streaming on twitch and youtube. So expect another follower in both places.

I will hopefully become a good member and somewhat active member of this community. I was an alpha and beta tester for Mech Warrior Online and have thousands of hours in that game as well as thousands of hours in most crpg and grand strategy games. On steam I am wwiiogre.

Cya all in game, probably not in No Mans Sky since it is not multiplayer, yet.

Hi, welcome to the community! Did you play any text based games back in the 70s and 80s?

Hi there ww2ogre, and welcome!! To echo what furaithd said, it's fantastic to see other mature gamers

Like you, I was on the fence about NMS, but watching Cohh playing the PS4 version encouraged me to prepurchase it too...although because I'm stuck in London until the tail end of this week, I'm getting seriously itchy WASD fingers!!

\o/ I'll see you around on here and in stream chat! :D

Hello and welcome! 7 Days to Die is one of my favorite early access games I have come across in a long while. I really love using creative mode with zombies to test ideas or setup crazy mazes of spikes. Take care and Cheers!

Thanks all,

@malta, no I was not a fan of the huge text based games. Although once graphics were added I joined in and loved the huge games with tons of story arc. Like Cohh does in no mans sky, I find my self always reading the story arcs and gathering all info I can. Sometimes I do not even start on main quests until I have fleshed a world out as far as I can. Then I start the story line.

@alysante, yeah I am really looking forward to Resurgence as I was a huge fan of Arcanum and now I play Clockwork Empires in its early access form. Clockwork is not a crpg, more a building sandbox game but fun. Has a funny steam/victorian/lovecraft angle that is interesting.

@faraithd, I have always been a gamer. My parents started us playing checkers, cribbage, card games, chess at very early ages and most of us moved on to board games and then tabletop roleplaying, combat miniature games. When I was 13 I helped organize and then had to co DM one of the first DnD tournaments at Pacificon at the Dunffey in San Mateo. While there I also was introduced to micro armor, napoleonics, and so much more including Arduin (introduced crit hit charts, magic fumble charts, a better hit point system for dnd style games still use it to this day) Raised both my daughters as gamers. Did not force them, just let them watch and play with dice and miniatures while we played. When they begged to play I said they could join us after learning how to make their own characters. They were 7 and 9 when they joined the adults for their first tabletop game. Now 24 and 26.

@OccamSHaver, I also was on the fence about No Mans Sky, watched Lirik stream it and a few others, saw all the vids on it and my youngest daughter was excited about it. Until I watched Cohh though, I would not have bought it. Thanks to Cohh, I am sure its a game I will enjoy. So much so I subscribed to his twitch channel as a thanks for helping me invest my gaming money.

@ticktock1231 , 7 days really is the best zombie horror survival building game out there and its still in alpha. I have more hours in it than in Fallout 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4 and Skyrim combined. Which surprised me, until I thought about it. 7 days has a sense of community even on a full on pvp server. You are always eeking out just to survive, then you have to deal with the zombies every day, hordes every 7th day, screamers and the hordes they draw when you forge or do things that draw to much attention. Throw in PVP and its non stop tension. Play on an extremely low entropy server like I do and its really, really tough. True survival hardcore (spiders server using spider's JZmod) is set at 15% loot, 100 day loot respawn, you cannot find full weapons, you cannot any loot above faulty. There are no skill books, you must learn every skill by doing and then spending your skill points to learn what you want to do. Safes need iron tools to break open, ammo crates need steel, steel doors need steel tools to open. You do not start with ability to make wood frames. So its tough, but to me that means its more rewarding.
