Firstly, just wanted to say that I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I don't often socialise online but didn't know where else to ask this question and get a reliable response.
So I played Alien: Isolation recently and loved it (it felt to me like the sequel the original alien movie deserved, but that's another topic for another day). I'm not one to play horror games often but I loved the suspense and atmosphere it created. Thing is, I can't stand horror movies. I'm a massive baby so while this has opened my eyes and I want to try more of the horror game genre, I want to know if alien isolation is considered to be a scary game, or if this isn't scary at all and I'm kidding myself thinking that I might be ok with other horror games.
So in short, if Alien: Isolation is my introduction to the horror game genre and I was mostly able to play it without too much stress, what other games should I be able to play without needing to buy new underwear afterwards?
How scary is Alien: Isolation?

It's definitely a scary game. I remember when it first came out a lot of big streamers played it. Every one of them ran around screaming and freaking out. I remember one couldn't even finish it. I'm not an expert in horror games but Alien Isolation certainly scared seasoned horror players.

I never watched any streams of it when it first came out, so I'm glad it was generally considered scary - feeling a little more confident to try out some other scary games I was too much of a wuss to play before

Patchables, Alien Isolation is a "scary" game and is definitely more of a psychological horror/thriller than a gore and cheap scares kind of a game. In terms of getting more into the "horror" genre you have to ask yourself a couple of things. 1) Am I scared of blood and guts? 2) Am I more scared of suspense and tension when I don't know what is around the corner? 3) What kind of system am I using? and 4) What platform am I going to play on? When it comes to psych horror, you can look at the Silent Hill Series, F.E.A.R.( more of an FPS), and the Fatal Frame, or Five Nights at Freddy's Series. More of the Blood and Guts horror is going to be you Resident Evil, Dieing Light, The Evil Within Us, and Dark Souls. If you want a great game that isn't really scary but is a great story and thriller/adventure game I always suggest playing The Last of Us (one of the best games I've ever played). Now not all of my suggestions here fall into just one category and I suggest looking up some of the titles that you are interested in and see if random gameplay is "too much" for you. It's always better to be sure that you're going to enjoy yourself and not just buy the game only to have it collect dust on the shelf or take up HD space
Hope this was helpful for you.

If you can find this I would recommend playing, Haunting Ground.
