Hello to all
So I loved Shadow of Mordor and wanted to buy this one as soon as i heard about it.
But then the Microtransactions & Lootboxes happened and i was put off by it but i'm still interested.
My questions are How does it affect gameplay and the feel of the game ?
How much impact are the other Two tribes that you get from buying Silver or Gold Edition ?
And are they worth it ?

Also your thoughts and Cohhs(i've missed the last couple of streams) on the game.

I've only played for 20 hours so far and am at Act 2, supposedly at Act 4 people are claiming it gets grindy.

But from what I've played so far I do not see a reason to buy mtx in SoW, allt he items available are dropped by orks and the orks themselves are all capturable (except if they have the Iron Will trait). Also you get lots of Legendary items by doing all the side stuff and just playing the game. Legendary items are able to be leveled up by doing challenges. Therefore all the Legendaries you earn throughout the game will be able to used towards the "end-game".

On top of that, if somehow the game gets unbearably hard at Act 4, which some reviewers are claiming the game to be. Then you can always change the difficulty in the menu without having to buy mtx. - But from what I've seen most reviewers claiming problems with Act 4 are people who focused only on the main story, which would result in being under-leveled.

Anyway, I'll be playing more of this game and if I do find out that at Act 4 there is some unbearable grind than I'll update this post and I'll let you know. I don't see a reason to defend the game, but at the same time I do think that from what I've seen so far, people have acted like it's the most extreme thing in the universe. Which while it's a scummy practice, I don't think it so far has impacted the game, made anything rarer or more difficult than it should've been.

---

About the tribes, I wouldn't really know what to say. While I'm sure I've beaten and captured some Uruks from those 2 tribes, there are so many different personalities and tribes that I haven't really noticed anything special specifically with those 2 tribes. They do supposedly each have a Legendary gear set that they drop, so if you are someone who'd like to collect all the legendary gear sets, that is sadly locked behind having these tribe expansions.

Just a little update, since I did get to Act 4 now.

At Act 4 you start what is essentially a set of defend your citadel missions. From what I can see you just need to complete all of these, which seem to be about 10 - 12 defenses and after that there's supposedly more story.

The attacking teams so far (I've done 3), all consisted out of level 35-45 LEGENDARY Uruk Warchiefs, this was definitely a jump in power compared to the common level 30~ Uruk I had gotten before. But during these defenses you can of course capture (or kill, for legendary loot) these legendary Uruks which then makes them yours to use in future defends/attacks.

In general I think that it's not too much of a problem, but I do understand that if you were to be only doing the story stuff before you'd now all of the sudden need to scatter to get a team of captain together etc.

I must say though, it's quite easy to get a team together; Since there are daily challenges that give you MTX (golden) currency and crates. Also the crates you can buy with Mirian (the ingame currency) also seem to have a 1/10 chance for a Legendary Uruk. The captains/warchiefs/overlords from crates are always level appropriate so if you are level 54, the Orcs will be 50-54.

In general I'd say that Act 4 is just incredibly lazy design. Cutting out all the story and just saying "now go and defend 12 citadels against super strong opponents!" before then giving story again, compared to all the awesome cut-scenes leading up and especially in Act 3 is a huge kick in the nuts. --- Don't take me wrong I've enjoyed the 30 hours leading up to now (which has already made it worth the money), but I feel as though the next 5 hours are just going to lazy mediocre game design and will leave a bad taste in my mouth overall.
