I'm not sure if it's been talked about or not, but you guys should really check out Empyrion - Galactic Survival. Picked it up last week and it's a ton of fun. It's got great base building and ship building mechanics with good customization options. The survival part of the game is pretty good too and there are multiple starting planets.
The building in the game reminds me of space engineers but not quite as complicated as that system is. It is early access, so as always keep that in mind.
Definitely worth a look.

Haven't heard of that game, I'll have to check out some gameplay of it later, though I still have so many games to still play in my Steam library... ^^;
No games to recommend, unless PS1 oldies like "Threads of Fate" count? A more recent one would be the PC release of Disgaea 1, fun tactics game with hilarious characters & story~
