So, as it is right now, in Spring 2014, the famous Elder Scrolls game, The Elder Scrolls: Online will be released.
Out of curiousity, are you going to be playing or, if so, what makes you want to play it? Gameplay, lore, graphics etc.
If not, then what makes you not want to try it out or play it at all?
I myself definitely am going to try it out, and I know it is wrong, but I have alot of hope for this one. If you compare it to World of Warcraft, it has alot of similarities to it, well atleast one big one in my book: Lore and background. In World of Warcraft, you have the contents and a whole background story from Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 + expansions. The exact same thing is going on for The Elder Scrolls: Online. They have their own sort of races (i.e. Redguards, Bretons, Nords etc.), and also they have an amazing amount of background story. They have so much content to put into the game, that in my opinion makes this a viable and a competetive game to World of Warcraft. All they just have to do right, is to get the essence of The Elder Scrolls into the online version. By that, I mean, that you should be able to do exactly what you feel like doing. If you want to follow the main questline, then you do that. If you want to explore, find quests, without having to think to much about where you are going, then you should be able to do so.
Another thing I find interesting and big plus, is the first person view. It makes the game more realistic, and you have to "aim" for yourself, and not just target a mob, and click 1, 2, 3, or whatever. The fact that you need a sort of skill, and you have to dodge by yourself, and keep on your toes to be able to take down mobs, just makes it so much more fascinating.
I could fill a whole lot more into this, but I want to hear YOUR opinions, and what you expect of it!
Cheers,
Flux

I'm not really bothering to look into it much; Over hyping the game for myself with it being so far away will just ruin it and disappoint me when I do go to play it.
It should be a good game from what I have seen though but knowing me I'll end up forgetting about it until a month before it's suppose to come out.

I don't really have much interest in the game as of yet, but I hope they can release some pictures or real gameplay videos that could change teh way I look at it.

IMO I think Skyrim made ESO overrated, but who know maybe it will do really well, and not fail like Defiance did.

Well I have had that thought aswell. It has been hyped waaay too much, which makes almost everyone expect something big and amazing. They have done that with some many games, and in the end, you just end up getting disappointed.
I would just wish, that for once, this sort of hyping actually is being made for a reason.
I just find ESO to be a perfect fit for an MMO, and a long lasting one. I just don't hope they mess it up. There will of course be stuff that will be different from the regular Elder Scrolls games, because it has to fit in a MMO world.
But I really hope they manage to keep it on the right track, and keep the essence of an Elder Scrolls game.

Well, I agree aswell. It would be nice to be seeing some content from the game. The only stuff I have heard is from people who have tried the beta. I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see...

The reason that I am not getting too excited about this game is that the developers don't seem to be entirely capable of keeping an Elder Scrolls feel to the game. One of the main examples being that they had to have a ton of negative feedback in order to even include a view that was first person with your hands showing. First person with hands is THE view for Elder Scrolls. The game should have been built around this, but instead it's being built as a third person game with the option to use your first person view. This is only one example of a glaringly obvious thing that keeps the Elder Scrolls feel that the development team would have dropped the ball on if not for raging fans. I hope they prove me wrong, but I doubt they will. I'm sure it will be a good enough MMO, but I doubt it's something I'll put too much time into.

Truth be told you'll find a lot of people actually play their TES games in 3rd person, along with their fallout games too. But yeah, they should have been designing it for First Person from the get go as that generally makes the transition to 3rd person much easier.

Been playing the Beta for ESO for at least 5 months now and it's still extremely disappointing. Slow, clunky combat and slow, badly made quests are what turned me off so much about the game. The lore and stuff is very well done though. But that's just not enough to get me to play it.

That doesn't sound to well. They still have a year where they can let us see what they can.

Well, it is still the beta. But I do not like the sound of it.
And about the 3rd person view. I was not aware of it being made that way. Of course an Elder Scrolls game has to be made around 1st person view. That's the part that makes it more intense, atleast for me.
I really hope they fix some of all this...

TES has always been about the lore and world, the combat has always been pretty mediocre and slow unless you played it on a lower difficulty and stealthed everywhere to which you just one shot everything.

As much as it hurt me to say, I would have rather had the next Elderscrolls use a co-op multiplayer rather than an MMO. I already have GW2 and plan on playing FFXIV when it re-releases and if ESO is going to use a sub model i dont think i will have it in my budget to pay for more than one sub fee, let alone find time to play both enough to justify the price per month.

You have a point. I still await for the day an Elderscrolls game has co-op. Ever since I stumbled across an old man on a stranded island in Morrowind talking about multiplayer, I have always wanted it to be true.

Actually I haven't thought of that, but that would have been a better idea, atleast in my head. If they had just tried out multiplayer first, and not just went all in with a MMO-version of the game. And I actually believe multiplayer Elder Scrolls would be much more fun, than an MMO. But I'll guess we'll have to see what happens.
