i often play a game called hill climb racing on Android. You can upgrade your car and stuff. the graphics are pretty basics, but its fun !

One of the best and few apps I have actually purchased for my iPad is Super Hexagon, it's great fun and is a perfect time filler.

I have always liked Pulse which is on Android, IOS and Blackberry. It is a great way to set up news feeds for all your most visited websites and have them in one place.

I have it on iPad and PC (courtesy of a friend ), I've completed all but the Hardestestestestest level on iPad, nowhere near as much on the PC though.

Anybody else into Temple Run and/or Subway Surfers? it's an endless chase game where you try to get the highest score before dying, collecting items and power ups along the way

After i played them enough with all the practice that i had done, i score in the multi-millions for both of those games... another i like that is a challenge is Jetpack Joyride.

Crazy Taxi - You drive a taxi, in a crazy manner.
MyBoy - GBA emulator.

Tools:
Twilight - adjusts your display's brightness and colours depending on the time of day.
digg - news.
Flipboard - news.


That's pretty much all the unique apps I have on my phone. Keep in mind these apps are for Android, can't guarantee if they have iOS versions.
