Even though Blizzard played an integral part in the inception of the MOBA genre, they never tried to capitalize on its success. Until now. Heroes of the Storm, which Blizzard is calling a Hero Brawler, not a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) like Dota 2 or an Action RTS like League of Legends, is the newest free-to-play PC title from the developer, and we were able to sit down and play a few matches at BlizzCon 2013.
At its heart, Heroes of the Storm celebrates Blizzard by bringing characters from all of their epic universes together for the first time. The cinematic trailer tells it best. It was unbelievably thrilling to see Tyrael, the angelic warrior from Diablo facing off against StarCraft's Queen of Blades, Kerrigan, and watching Raynor assaulting Diablo himself in one of the best cinematics in Blizzard's 22-year history.
