Co-op doesn’t get more suave than Warframe, with its slick sci-fi environments and eyeless, knob-faced title characters. We originally reviewed the MMO shooter back in April; it had just been let off the leash into the world of open beta, and despite the associated growing pains, we felt it was a strong concept with room to grow further.
Seven months have passed now, and the steady content stream has beefed up Warframe considerably. Numerous new “warframe” classes have joined the original three, and the latency problems we initially encountered have now been ironed out (for the most part). A solid community is amassing, and if you’ve been curious about Warframe, now’s probably the best time to join in by downloading through Steam or the Warframe site itself. It’s free-to-play, of course, so it won’t put you out-of-pocket to try things out – but does the gameplay remain as compelling without an obligatory visit to the cash shop?
