Hi! First time writing an introduction post in... quite a long time. I'm Mannaeta, you can call me Griff if you'd like. I'm a new viewer with a pretty long history with games despite not being particularly active on Twitch. I stumbled onto Cohh's stream recently and was taken in by his inclusive, honest, and genuine enjoyment of games, and just subbed today. Cohh is actually my first non Fighting Game Community sub on Twitch; I'm not actually big into watching people play games, mostly because of how hostile a lot of stream communities and streamers can (even if unintentionally) be, but Cohh is so friendly that I couldn't help but be drawn into the community. If anyone has any other streamers they'd like to plug that are similar to Cohh, I'd be all ears! Anyway...
I've put quite a bit of time into the Fallout series over the years, which is partially why I clicked on Cohh's stream in the first place. Fallout 3 was my introduction to the series, but I've played... an unnecessary amount of the other games in the series as well. The entire series helped me get through some rough times in college -- First, when I came out as *** (womp, got censored. The G in LGBT) to my family and friends (though luckily most people were accepting, parents included), and secondly when I was writing my thesis. I majored in Japanese and even used a Japanese copy of New Vegas as practice while I studied abroad, vastly improving my reading skills. Over the entire franchise, I have probably put around 1000-2000 hours of gameplay. The only other games I can think of that I've spent even nearly a comparable amount of time on are the Souls games and Smash Bros. Melee, which I play competitively.
Though, I never have finished Fallout 2, now that I think about it. I started a fists run but never got more than a couple hours in. This is probably a horrible sin on my part, considering how I played the entirety of Brotherhood of Steel.
Some more random facts about me: I am a trained linguist, I speak Japanese fluently, and grew up speaking French and English bilingually -- though I'm not that great at French anymore. I can still read it, though! I enjoy learning languages for fun and have dipped my toe into the Scandinavian languages (mostly proficient in Bokmål but decently functional in Swedish and Danish as well), conlangs, and even Russian! I'm not fantastic at all the languages I've tried to learn, but having a strong understanding of core linguistics gives me a leg up with learning. My favorite kinds of games are Fighting games by a pretty significant margin, but I play everything. I have a broad appreciation of games, to the point that I even took games studies classes in university and wrote pretty extensively about game design and theory for my undergrad track. If asked to spout an (unordered) list of my favorite games, Demon's Souls, Bayonetta 2, The Void, Pathologic, MGS3: Snake Eater, Metroid Prime, Yume Nikki, Majora's Mask, Alien: Isolation, and Final Fantasy IX all come to mind.
Anyway, I'm not sure where to go with this, but I hope we can become friends and have a good time! Fallout 4 has been amazing so far (I'm about 3 hours in), and I intend to lose my life to the game like I'm sure many others have. I'm kind of sad about it because I'd been, up to today, playing through Ice Pick Lodge's excellent Pathologic: Classic HD, and I fear I'll never make it back to that game now that Fallout is the only thing I can think about.
Cheers!

Welcome! Cohh and the community here are simply amazing! If you watch cohh he is the leader of the Cohhilition Twtich group. A large amount of the people on there have the same mind set as Cohh. I know BruisedLee01 and Lowco2525 are two of my favs.
Your connectiong to Fallout 3 is really awesome, I am sorry that you had a rough time with coming out, I hope things have gotten better. I know English...mostly...and that is pretty much it. I have dabbled in a 3 or 4 programming languages...doesn't really count...
Since you like Metal gear solid, and you have a lot of time, I would recommend Cohh's play through of almost every MGS game made. It was so much fun! We all got so caught up in the games that when some bad events happened we all teared up a bit.
I hope you have a great time in Fallout 4, I know I am having a blast. See you around chat or on the forums

I'm pretty lucky, coming out wasn't the worst thing in the world. I came out when I was 19, expected my family to be shocked and upset, and they weren't! It was more that my social circle disintegrated, barring a few people. As a result, I just dove into games and used that as a buffer. All in all, it was not a terrible disaster like many people's experiences are, and for that I'm grateful.
I'm still somewhat new to twitch, so I'm going to check out the rest of the Cohhilition streamers to see how I like them. I recently just replayed every Metal Gear, so I'm a little bit burnt out on the series. Well, not burnt out, but you know, I've had my closure. I'll definitely check out some of the vids on Youtube sometime in the future, though! First I have to make it through Cohh's playthroughs of Fallout 1 and 2!

Hey, welcome to the Cohhilition. You're definetly in the right place for a good respectful community. Glad you found Cohh.
If you're looking for somebody similar, Lethalfrag has a similar "friendly" vibe in his channel though not to the level of Cohh.
What sort of build are you going for in FO4?

I have two characters currently -- one is primarily Charisma and Laser focused (well, as much as the game will let me) and the other is stealth melee. I have about 20 hours logged into my Charisma character, and about 3 into the melee character. Both are on survival difficulty, and naturally, melee is way harder but more enjoyable. I think of it as my Daredevil run, haha.
