As the title says - I'm building a PC for the first time and trying to plan everything, any input would be greatly appreciated!

Living in Australia means everything is a bit more expensive but wouldn't mind shaving off around $500 from the price roughly.
Main uses would be primarily university work and casual gaming, two screens to use my xbox/ps4/movies on the side. Wanting to keep it somewhat 'future proof' so it can still be used 5 years down the line but good enough to play high end settings on AAA games in the meantime.
No OS - should be able to get Win10 Education and Office for Students for free under university agreements.

Oh my goodness...what an expensive build! I have posted my build in these forums as well if you'd like to check it out... http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tPrVt6 my cpu come with a dinky little cpu fan+radiator that should do the job just fine especially with a couple of fans in the case (i made sure to get a case with fan ports in the top and side) though your cpu doesn't include a fan you may be able to get away with a much cheaper cooling solution 
....Just checked out your case and I LOVE the look of it, and the fact that it has 3 external drive bays (not quite as much as my 5 > 
) which is a decent amount of expansion room for TOYS! If you're anything like me, when searching for a part, you arrange the list by cheapest components and scroll further until you find the cheapest satisfactory part possible (If you're trying to save money!!)...this is my only suggestion for trying to save on a build....start from the cheapest. I've added all the bells and whistles to my build and it is still very affordable for all the features...i didn't find it difficult to balance price with quality while building a part list on PCPartPicker.com . Cheers and good luck, I didn't really get to it but your rig will be very powerful and run absolutely anything. I jut dont wanna see you miss out on all the fun toys available simply because you didn't think about getting them during the build so check out my list if you havent yet, especially the custom parts section!! < 333
