Hi! I'm LongwoodGeek, aka Gerry from Roanoke, VA. I'm a huge bibliophile (especially sci-fi/fantasy) and a massive gamer as well (RPGs/Strategy mostly). I am also a huge con-goer and I help run a con in Roanoke, VA called Mysticon (last year we had GRRM as our Guest of Honor). I love to collect video games especially and I have over 512 at the house with almost all the systems made since 1983 to present (only missing a Neo Geo AES, TurboExpress, and SNK Pocket Color). Anyone who wants to discuss retro games or great sci-fi/fantasy books feel free to hit me up!

Nice to see you in the forums!
That's a huge collection you got there. Do you have a special cupboard for all the consoles?

Welcome to the community! Looks like you're living a pretty fun life.

What do you recommend for sci fi? Assume I really enjoyed "the moon is a harsh mistress" and "the stars my destination."

Alysante, I have a ton of space in my basement for them and I'm working on special shelving in my livingroom for the consoles themselves.

I have pics of what I've got here: http://on.fb.me/1eSaVa5
My list is here: http://bit.ly/1K3tfpF

Hmm, honestly the Honor Harrington series and Safehold series by David Weber, the "Looking Glass" series by John Ringo, "Freehold" and its series by Michael Z. Williamson are all good choices and there are free copies of many of the first ones at Baen's free e-library. Head to http://www.baen.com/catalog/category/vi ... ry/id/2012 and check them out. I'll see if I can post a list of my inventory and more recommendations soon. :D

Cons are amazing. I go to around 4-5 a year and they are so much fun and you get to really meet a lot of like-minded people.
