Hello Cohhilites!
As many of you have mentioned that you would like to contribute in some way or another or be more involved in the whole crafting and gathering, I wanted to give some options here on how to help us.
As many people have several different interests, as well as time to spend on all of this I will try to list options for many different playstyles. At the top I will list the things for people who are not really interested a lot in crafting or gathering, but still want to help out. Below that I will go into more detail for people who are interestd to become a crafter, with several different options for interest and time as well. I will also try to explain the overall goals I have in mind.
I don't like crafting - I don't want to spend a lot of time on it, but I still want to contribute in some way
Crafting is not for everyone. If you just want to "get rid" of your labor points, or help out in some way that doesn't require all day long involvement with ArcheAge's crafting and gathering system as you'd rather pvp or do quests or the like check out the following things you could do.
More Land for the Cohhilition / Traderun Quests
In ArcheAge you are not required to plant and harvest everything yourself on your own fields. You can set permisions accordingly so other guild members can do that for you. It takes several "quests" including trade runs to accomplish getting them in the first place, so likely 1 or 2 hours invested just to run back and forth even if we hand you the materials for the trade packs.
If you don't plan on managing your own fields, don't want to worry about farming anything and rather do quests all day this would be an option to consider, also if you just don't want to be bothered with gathering/farming and rather do other crafting this would help us out. Be aware that especially at the beginning we might not have every material on stock so if you don't plant things yourself it might take up to a few days if you then need something planted till we have it ready.
If you're interested, let Rynea know ingame. We will do our best to get the materials for the trade packages ready that are required for the quests so you get your gardens and perhaps farm once we have enough ressources up. We will also help pay the weekly taxes for the fields to keep them up. We will likely do member trade runs for those things on a twice per week schedule on some sort, with changing dates and times.
If you want to plant on your fields yourself, but would like some company or help with the chestchain leading up to it, feel free to join as well, but be aware we might not have materials enough for just everyone who shows up if there are many people.
If you just want to know where to put your fields, we will setup our camp in the 'Solis Headlands' Zone, at the very western end in the field areas of the 'Stormester Plateau'. We will go there at the end of each Scheduled Traderun session to get our new field owners settled in if they want to join us there.
Gathering Ore - Burn through those Labor Points fast and without trouble
For one of our current goals, and for many future goals we will need lots of metals. One of the fastest ways to burn through labor points is mining ore, as there are spots where literally every 10 steps you can find a vein and you can burn those points away in about 15-30 minutes for 1000 points. If you look to not use those points for anything else and don't want to get too informed or involved in any of this, its a good way to mine these ores.
You can of course use the ore for your own ends like selling it to a vendor, but if you wanna help us out send the ore to one of our metalworkers / crafters. For right now as I'm just setting up the system and don't know who will be doing what that will just be me ( Rynea ) but I will update this as soon as possible once we have more crafters setup, as my own labor points quickly get drained away by just smelting alone and we seriously need more people.
Please send the ore via mailbox and let me know if you want ingots back in EACH of the mails! Then I will just smelt the ore into ingots for you and send it back (helps us with proficiency in metalworking that we need for crafting better things) Keep in mind that most ingots need 3 ore's to make 1 ingot so the ratio is often 3:1 and I also am currently swamped with work and cannot send back ingots at the same day most of the time.
If you want to "donate" the ore, please say so in every mail even if you sent ore before. With so many people sending us stuff it's hard to keep track of these things otherwise. All donations will go into our crafting pool, that we will use to craft stuff for our members.
Ore Locations:
Arcum Iris - Granite Quarry
Right next to the starting area you can find a lot of iron ore veins there. it is one of the easiest spots for beginners to farm.
Solis Headlands - Stormester Plateau (no image available at the moment)
Near our crafting and housing area there are also a lot of ore veins to be found.

Gathering and Crafting
Currently rearranging the whole roster. As dedicated crafters did not work out as well as expected early in the game and most people enjoyed to create families more than just being part of a huge nameless mass of a guild, we go that route now.
Currently we split people into families, not pre arranged, but we just let them grow and maintain their own. Each family has a contact who gives me updates on their status and their goals and milestones. Sort of a short overview. Families may go about crafting and trading very differently, depending on their players different playstyles.
They handle their day to day business on their own and the families will only be involved in large scale efforts on a more direct basis. No one really cares how much lumber everyone farms, how much fabric anyone needs etc. The basic needs are handled internally. Some families might enjoy seafaring and fishing, while others might not see a ship for a long time and rather sell their lumber and play the market.
After families get more stable and well situated it will then be easier to have crafters for the different positions, who have their basics already down and can concentrate on their respective crafts.

Priorities
Edit: Removed guild Stash and Goals as they are no longer correct and too hard to keep up all the time.
Priorities
We do our best to give all of our community some of the rewards of our coordinated efforts, but we will not be able to craft top end armor for every single character who starts with us. There is a limited amount of contributors, so we have to share it in a way that doesn't put a strain on our ressources.
The following will have priority for our efforts most important things at the top, just picking out a few examples.
.) Community Elements many players can use: This includes construction work for our future castle, for community farms and overall buildings that improve crafting possibilities for everyone. This would also include Black Pearl farming help for Oranthul so we can be part of the faction.
.) Vehicles, Boats etc. - These will improve our overall capabilities of transporting trade packs, expanding our incomes and giving us more options to acquire goods and craft more better items.
.) War machines for Defense - In order to keep our stuff we will need to put some efforts into building defenses. this might go beyond walls of a fortress, but might include siege engines or the like. these are supposed to be stationary for defense only. While we have a lot of players in the guild, at some point we will need to think about defense, thats when this point comes in.
.) Help for new players. We will focus more on new players who are interested in crafting themselves, in order to expand our workforces, but overall any new player is a part of our community. helping them out in the beginning will bring out their possible potential and may in the end make them able to not only help us in the future, but also to give on that helpful and friendly approach to other new players once they are veterans.
.) General equipment for single players - Single players have the least priority of our efforts. While we will always spend some ressources on single players interests, because thats after all what keeps everyone happy, our community efforts should never become a way for a select few to get great gear while our community as a whole is ill equiped and has no tools to work with properly.
If we have surplus, then of course we will equip single players too, focusing on those who contributed a lot first if possible, or who need it the most, but prioritizng single person interests over our community as a whole should be a big no no.

Great writeup so far, Rynea. Personally i'm planning on specializing in Leatherworking for the purposes of the guild. As soon as i get my proper farm set up in Solis i will be doing exclusively animals for leather. Not sure what else to add other than keep up the good work. *thumbs up*

Sounds great Dysc, if we manage to get enough gatherers and farms, we can have them do the leather farming and you can just do the leatherworking. I noticed the drastic improvement with mining/metalworking myself, to the point where I mostly do smelting nowadays because the mining burns through labor so fast
I should have our next goals up in the other post in a while (perhaps in an hour when I find the time) as well as add more people to our list of crafters/gatherers and come up with some ideas on how to check on progress for all of them.

Rynea, I am looking to craft and gather a lot, but most of all I want to get the skills to be able to rebuild destroyed boats.
I remember Cohh talking about it last week in stream that it is 1 of the hardest skills to get up, but I would like to take the challenge. I plan to be a very active member in the game from now on.

Cohh just confirmed it is Alchemy. I plan to work on many other crafting classes also but I would def work on Alchemy first to help make sure that we and our fellow alliance members have at least 1 solid member who can help rebuild the boats.
Also just a fyi, my in game char is Nealu.

Alchemy sounds great! I will add Nealu as our alchemist for now if thats okay, it would be great if you could focus on Dyes for the start as they are likely easy to make and skill with and some of our other crafters will need them. I will get in contact with them and ask which ones exactly

Okies adding Darkrat and Nealu ..
@Darkrat I try to list the materials along with our crafters who needs what, that should give you a good idea who to look for if you think about what to farm/gather
We will also always need the following for trade runs for new players:
Turmeric
Cotton
Stone Bricks (if we have no masonry crafter for now, raw stone would work too)
Bananas
We will also always need lumber or wood for ships and other vehicles that will be used for the community.

I would like to help out at some point when I get better at the whole gathering/crafting thing. I have yet to hardly do anything with any of it. I like the thought and aspect of crafting. I might try my hand at Alchemy whenever I get back on. I remember Bikeman saying in one of his streams that you need certain things with alchemy to fix the larger boats after they've been destroyed. I'll work on several things when I have time. Busy with school work today.

Sure beavis, feel free to join us whenever you like, just let us know when you have any details of what you'd like to do. Also feel free to join us on our trade runs if you still need the quests and are around at the mentioned times.

I don't think I'll be able to make the trade runs this week Rynea. Simply because I'm in the last two weeks of my classes and it's getting important. If I do have time to help out though I can run along side and help protect whoever is running the routes if that would be alright.

Rynea:
Count me in as a crafter (though I haven't been able to get the game yet) I am in the UK but I usually play 8hours a day minimum, generally on the US timezones.
I would also like to offer my assistance in excel spreadsheets or other resource tracking ways until I am in game (though may need help posting info on forums) Just a thought and perhaps a silly one, but any help I can be I will.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the thoughts Alzir and the offer of help. Just let us know ocne you have the game what you enjoy and we get you settled in!
No need for help with spreadsheets for now thanks
My EVE career made sure I know how to make those when i need em .. I hope it won't get too much into that though, that normally ends up with people giving me strange looks as if I'm crazy when I talk about production efficiency and all that

No need for help with spreadsheets for now thanks
