Hello,
Iam on the lookout for a new mic for recording commentaries for games, I got a couple of noisy birds about a meter from my computer, so need one which has a great shielding of picking up sounds from all but one direction, anyone able to point me to a good one ?
Need a new mic

well the blue yeti seems to be everyones favorite proffesional mic and if you want to go real hardcore you can add a vocal booth to really shut those birds out, the you got the antlion mod mic which clips on to your headset(will add a cable to your headset though and im not really sure how directional its is). Then you can use softare to make sure that it only picks up soundd beyond a certain threshhold.

The Logitech G930's are nice but they are wonky and suffer from disconnection issues. Rampant issue that Logitech won't fix. Blue Yeti or Snowball (I have snowball) are great for streaming, awesome sound quality. I'm not sure the Blue Yeti is worth the price over the snowball since the hardware is basically the same. In regards to the mod mic - I've had 3 friends that have all had to RMA for refunds. I would steer clear.

It honestly sounds great and unless you have a need for producing recording and production quality sound, the snowball sounds amazing over any headset mic out there.

You might also want to look into the Blue Nessie. Same company that makes the yeti and snowball. It's priced between the snowball and the yeti. Has a a nice voice-over mode that add's some audio EQ and what not or you can run it in raw mode. I've been using it for about 2 months now and it pretty good for the price.

Thanks for your suggestions, will take a look at the Blue Nessie too and see what I like the best and what prices they are at in Denmark.
