Hello everyone I wanted to share information and would like to see if I missed anything for my next build.

Right now I am in Korea and use my Asus laptop for all my gaming needs. It has worked pretty well since it has a i7 processor, 12 gb of ram and a 500 gb SSD harddrive. I want to go back to my desktop to continue my gaming experience. Here are the specs it has right now:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4GHz
HyperX 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3'http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820104163'1333
ASUS P5E3 PRO LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
2 x ASUS HD7770-2GD5 Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 2GB 128-Bit
Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BNSB Black
1 tb hard drive 7200
Thermaltake - Toughpower Grand TP-1200AH3CSG
Blu-Ray BD-RW
3 Samsung 20" Monitors (unfortunately they don't have mounting holes.)

I want to Upgrade it with:

ASUS X99-A ATX DDR4 3000 LGA Motherboard X99-A
Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3GHz LGA 2011-v3
Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate Cooling Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200)
Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD
ASUS Graphics Cards STRIX-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD5
Western Digital 4TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache

My budget is: Around $2000-$2500
I live in: Will be North Dakota
Operating system: Have one but will get Windows 10... Right now Windows 8
Monitor: No monitor
Gaming resolution : 5760x1080 at most also use the Oculus Rift
Peripherals?: None
Will you do overclocking?: Not at all thank you not for me

What are you planning to do with the pc?: Play/Stream the latest games and last for 3 years.

it looks good, however i would honor this new computer with a new chassi. i would recommend the enthoo pro, the nzxt h440 or the fractal design define r5. if you go with nzxt or fractal and ever want to do three way you have to switch motherboards. msi x99s or gigabyte ud4 are the ones that work with that case. secondly you might want to change your psu, the one you have is decent but acording to jonnyguru the build quality isnt the best, when it comes to psu's there is only one brand i could recommend,EVGA. Then when it comes to the cooler i would recommend the fractal design kelvin s36 however they dont sell it in the usa due to the asetek patent lawsuits but maybe you could buy it in korea and take it with you home.

Then when it comes to screens, if you go 1080p you have to go 144hz g-sync. but i were you i would wait for the acer 27" 1440p 144hz ips

well there you have my opinions

Thank you for the suggestions. I have actually updated my wish list for when I get back to the states. I really like the fractal design but it will be hard for me to get in states and I feel like support will be harder if needed. I will look into the nzxt since it has a great functionality and looks good with the design that I want with the red and black. as fore the motherboards and PSU, I have actually headed your advice since I never really had a preference in the cards and just used what I knew.

I will probably wait till later on the screens as I will but I did check out the acer GN 24" monitor... Does have me intrigued and will have to wait what the 27" looks like.

Thank you for your help in this matter it has helped me out a lot. :D

Honestly with the current prices I wouldn't pick up a 980. Seems not worth it to me, especially if you plan to upgrade again in 3 years. Also a 1TB SSD seems questionable to me, again for price reasons. Get a 500GB SSD for the OS, grab a 970 which does fine for all the new games too and save the money for a capture card and set up the old system as a streaming system. Will likely benefit you more.

the more ssd the better, secondly if he ever just wants to have fun and go 3X1080 a 970 wont be enough. The build isnt really bang for the buck but when you have this much money to spend its not about bang for the buck. And i dont know the profitability of a capture card when he got 66 folowers, no offence but as i see standard hardware-encoding seems good enough to me. In my eyes its more worth spending it one extra ssd and better gpu.

I think you might be right about the 980... I will always add another card in the long run when needed and just might be worth it to downgrade a little bit since the 980 is around 10-15% better. I think I am paying that high because this is a Board and CPU upgrade. I rarely change those ones and will try to continually upgrade the video card/ram to compensate for a legacy CPU (You can see that with the build I have right now lol.)

I do like the 3x1080 for gaming with that wrap around experience. I tell people that this is something they should try out to get that full effect. However, any high quality gaming might be streamed on and I can't use the 3x1080 when streaming it. I am still perfecting my stream and can't do full time streaming right now due to work requirements (but am doing part time streaming.) I think I shouldn't emphasize on the 3x1080 as much. I do love SSD's though they are the best. I will probably keep the 1TB just because I am salivating on the idea for now. I did upgraded my laptop to a 500GB SSD and it is screaming fast. I also use my laptop for now to stream since it has the best build w/i7 processor and 765m GPU and my desktop is in storage right now. Pathetic lol

Those are great replies and love all of them. I will add those ideas to my custom build.

Yeah, 3*1080 is not really good to stream however its fun to have but if you prioritize streamingen then 970 is a excellent choice, i dont know if you follow tech but nvidia did something with the memmory. Here's a video:

Wow that is a really interesting story. I think they did kinda advertised the card wrong for the community. The good thing for me is I am going off of benchmark data so that should take that into account (hopefully.) I am thinking they really did make an error on this advertisement. I don't know how they can rectify it. It is still pretty good with the benchmark though and I encourage people to go with benchmark data and not advertisement data.

Thank you for the info!! :D

I would most likely have used a Swiftech H220-X , its better and more reliable :)

but beyond that your set , perhaps choose a higher mem speed , i'd say 2400mhz is almost to low when it comes to the new DDR4

For the Swiftech H220-X I do kinda like the looks of that cooling system. It looks like that it has the option to change the colors on the fan I am guessing. I want to have a red and black theme on my computer.

One of my buddy's talked to me on DDR4 and told me it's still too early too buy and with the lower price of DDR3 and the easy upgrade, I should purchase DDR3 for now. I do see that it's half the price and I am thinking of downgrading the ram due to the price and ease of upgrade. I don't know what do you all think?

well if you buy ddr3 then at some point you have to get rid of them and buy ddr4 you cant have both types of sticks in your machine and i do believe i saw 32gb 26xx or 2800 for about 4-500$ and thats pretty cheap compared to my DDR3 2133Mhz from Corsair GT Dominator CL9 cost me 500$ and they still costs that , that day today here in Denmark, everything here is more expensive ofc by like 20%

Perhaps you should wait a little and also be able to afford the 5930k instead of the 5820k or maybe not , it is actually a 6 core , just the old 3820 and 4820 were both only quad cores , and if you want proper performance now a days you go 6 core.

what are you saying, the 5820 is a 6 core the only diffrence is that 5930k got more pci-lanes,its not worth

if you would go ddr3 you would have to sacrifice x99 which isnt really worth, the ddr4 is 2x the price of dd3 but it is worth to get that 6 core cpu

Thank you for the responce callumdk, I looked at the Corsair dominator for both DDR3and DDR4 and it does look like the DDR4 dominator is double the price. As for CPU, I will look into the 5820. It will provide the bang for the buck. I don't think I need as much for the pci-lanes but the cores for processors will be very useful. Thank you both for your help in this matter and I will update my list again.

Keep them coming because I will be buying it in around march timeframe. :D

Corsair dominator isnt the most bang for the buck either, i would go for g.skill when you go ddr4 since the heigher clocks of the dominators doesnt do much for overall peformance

All depends on what you want to do with your pci lanes, this is all personal preference.

Thank you for the posts callumdk, I am definately looking into all the spec's. I don't see myself really getting too involved with massive pci cards. I was going to disable the onboard video but still utilize the on-board sound. I may also have a capture card on a different computer. The most this card will have is 2 video cards, 1 capture card, 2 HDD & 1 BD-RW and that would be the most I would need. As for all the other devices, I won't go more than what is always hooked up on every other pc. I can honestly see how someone that goes all out will need the 40 pci lanes but I think for me as only going max 2 video cards and no more, I think 28 lanes are the best for my opinion. My legacy computer that supported me for the whole LGA 775 experience has at most 2 video cards & 1 capture card which got me up untill 1 Feb 2014 when I moved.

Thank you for your post. It did make me do some research on the matter and made it more knowledgeable on what I wanted with the different CPU's.
