Long time lurker, not really introduced myself to this community so i thought of maybe enter with something interesting.
So I've been working with a certain game concept for some time now which i wanna call a Sandbox Arena.
A little inspired from genres like MOBAs and general Sandbox games.
But i've taken it more into a team-based direction, where the main objectives isnt to kill or survive, but to gather different objectives around a map. Basically just building up a total score for your team.
The game itself is set as a top-down-side simular to the perspective of old ultima games.

(reference: Picture from Ultima)
There is obviously better graphics these days. The point was focused on the perspective.
This variant is a hybrid perspective of isometric and top-down really is focused on exploration and gameplay in general. as the screen is aligned with the ground and the visuals makes buildings very visually pleasing.
Never mind the estetics so far.
Gameplay Mechanics
- Interaction: So the world is grid aligned in 3 dimensions. Look at it as the resolution of blocks in minecraft (obviously tiles do look much better).
The movement is free, no aligned to the grid, however the controlls are directed to used 4 directional buttons, WASD or D-Pad on controller.
The actions/combat are based on items with 4 action buttons combining differently for combos/different functionality. Giving alot of flexibility.
Entities are also freely movable in the world, focusing on interaction from multiple sources/players.
Items/etc are crafted. However this is a bit more verbose to explain, could explain futher if people are interested
* Making a lobby system based on twitch logins, Making a website or API allowing to spectate the a current match to twitch streams.
* The system could be implemented into channels if wanted, so viewers can join etc.
The engine in the current state works alot of the basics, Rendering, Input (with gamepads) are working, Networking is setup as a start, Sound is a thing also to be fixed into the base.
Its still all very undefined in the current state of the game, meaning i want some input from you guys coming from such an awesome community.
As this is a project i want to bring out to everyone, i wanted to start of an alpha here at the cohhilition.
